Comfortable, welcoming - the perfect way to start our adventure in San Francisco. Hanging out with Luke was great too - he invited us to events, and generally made us feel very, very welcome.
Luke was a great host. Everything was ready when I got there and I enjoyed my stay completely. He was available when I needed him over the phone, even late at night.
De neighbourhood was great, the house okay. Luke and Heather were very easygoing and hospital, and gave us the space we needed, that was very nice and we felt free in the house and garden.
The facilities (own room, and use of garden, kitchen, bathroom) are complete and good.
We had vew alternativs since we booked late, but normaly we'd prefer a better (and real) bed, we slept on a double air-bed, our daughter on a single (real) bed. Also we prefer a little more tidyness.
For the price we hoped to get a normal bed and cleaner place.
All together we were happy since the hosts were so friendly and the area so lovely.
I cannot recommend this place. We really had to get used to the standarts of cleanliness of this apartment. In the room were only 2 matresses laying on the plain floor. Otherwise Luke was a nice host, always was reachable for us and kept very silent while we were around.
Response from Luke:
Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your stay, Annegret. I wish you would have let me know anything you needed while you were here!
My experience with Luke was not a pleasant one. For starters we had booked Luke's place for 2 guests. When we walked into our room there was 1 twin bed. My husband called Luke about the twin bed and we were told that there was an air mattress, however we were never told where the mattress was. Since there were 2 of us from the get go that mattress should have been set up and ready to go. My wife called you and left a message about where the mattress was and she had no response from you. Needless to say my wife and I slept in a twin bed head to foot. In his advertisement Luke stated that he had a dog. The small of his place was almost unbearable. Luke also knew we were coming with a motorcycle that was going to be parked in his garage. When we opened the garage and saw misc stuff spread about we called Luke and asked if we were still able to park in the garage, he told me to just move the stuff to the side. Again knowing that we were coming with a bike he should have had the garage ready for us. The garden he mentions in his ad is an overgrown mess of trees with junk all about. Needless to say we were very unhappy with our stay and we never once met Luke. We have notified Airbnb about him. And I do have pictures to back up this claim.
Luke was a great host in San Francisco. Though the room was minimal, it was exactly what we needed and even included a city guide book that we were able to carry around with us as we explored. I felt the location was great, close to good breakfast spots and public transit. Luke was easy to talk to and welcoming, we would definitely recommend his place!
Luke was a helpful and accommodating host, even letting us come a night early when the place we were meant to stay fell through at the last minute. He and his girlfriend, Heather, were very friendly, giving us tips on places to go in SF and inviting us out for brunch. Great neighborhood, clean house with all the basics we needed, plus a lovely big pup!

Luke was a rad host. He was on time, polite, friendly and had some good tips to share about the neighborhood. Our stay was comfortable, the place was clean and the price for the location could not be beat.
Luke was a great host. admittedly, we didn't spend a whole lot of time at the house outside of sleeping since we were down there for SXSW. but the sleeping arrangements were good, the beds were warm and there was plenty of hot water for showers.
Luke was super flexible and relaxed and made for a great experience. highly recommended.
we hosted luke and girlfriend heather along with puck a sweet ridgeback. they were a busy trio (in relocation / transition mode) so we didn't see much of them, but the three were quite, respectful and were good guests. especially puck. he he he.
Luke stayed at my house with his girlfriend and their cute big dog and were great to have as guests. They were very careful to keep their dog within bounds, and totally self- sufficient, relaxed and friendly.
