Hi, we are Simone and Lourdes, a couple in our 30s currently living in Barcelona. I am an aerospace engineer working in applied mathematics, while Lourdes is a bilingual editor in academic publishing.
We live in an amazing apartment in the heart of Barcelona, and we would love to share with other travelers like us who are on a budget.
I am Italian and Lou is Mexican. We lived in different countries for the past 14 years.
We are open minded, clean, respectful.
The apartment may be available for yourself at times (we often travel).
Food suggestions in the nearby areas:
In this same neighborhood , 3 minutes walking from the house, there is a place called Origens. They make very good food, at very good prices, and it is very healthy and from this region: Catalunya. There are two almost next to each other. The one I usually go to is in Carrer de la Vidrieria 9.
For breakfast, the BEST croissants in the world are just around the corner, in Carrer Flassaders. The bakery is called Hofmann.
For tapas, there is a place that is known by the locals or foreigners who usually live here. It is mostly fried tapas of seafood, but also potatoes, sardines, bread (among other things, order "pan con tomate" if you ever go for tapas). It is in the neighborhood called Barceloneta, a nice area to walk around during the day to go to the beach. The tapas place is a little hidden though: here the street: the place is called JaiCa, in carrer Ginebra, 13.
There is also a place where they make mussels in many different ways. They mostly serve mussles at the place. It is called La Muscleria. If you like mussles, it is a place for you. The place is nice, cheap (you could both have dinner with wine for not more than 30 euros, maybe 35 if you get good wine). With beer, it's even less.
