My boyfriend/partner and I are merchant mariners. We work primarily on container ships on the US Pacific Coast, and in Asia. As is common in this industry, we are not permanent employees on any particular ship. We get our work on a contractual basis through our respective unions (read John McPhee's book "Looking For a Ship". He does a fantastic job of describing this process). This affords us much flexibility in how much we work, and what we do with our year.
We like to travel when not at sea. Usually our style of travel is foot loose and fancy free, seeing what each day brings us. I found out about airbnb through my neighbor who has an awesome B&B. I am working on getting my Jackson Hole condo on the airbnb market, and someday may have a room in our Seattle house available.
More about me/us: My boyfriend grew up in Jackson Hole, so we spend several weeks to a few months a year there in my condo. I love hiking and spent all last summer hiking in the Tetons, and attempted to summit Middle Teton. We also enjoy Americana/Folk/outlaw country music, and I also still like old school 90's Seattle grunge :) Other hobbies include sailing and craft brew appreciation. I am trying to get better at cycling, and hope to one day do long-distance touring.
Some of the places we've traveled the past few years include New Zealand, Nicaragua, Belize, and Mexico, including Oaxaca, the Yucatan, Mexico City and area, and Pacific Coast near Puerto Vallarta.
Thanks for your hospitality, and thanks for being my guest.
