Murphy was an extremely welcoming and friendly host who was on hand to provide recommendations for what to do and see during our stay. Also with him was Herman the miniature schnauzer who was always there to greet you when you get back from a day's exploring!
The room and flat were just as described and shown on the listing. The room itself was spacious and warm, with a great view of the street below. The facilities on hand were absolutely excellent including Murphy's amazing kitchen with media centre.
The flat is just ten minutes away from Prince's street, meaning that we were never far from the main attractions or the Royal Mile. It's also extremely close to the Bus and Train stations if you're travelling in that way.
All in all I would definitely recommend Murphy's place and will happily stay here again if we visit the city on another occasion.
This is just for the extend of my previous stay, happy I extended it with Murphy.
Staying at Murphy's place made my trip to Edinburgh exactly the experience I hoped it would be. Located right around the corner from Stonebridge, close to many amenities, one can walk to almost any point in Edinburgh within 10-20 minutes. A top flat in New Town, my room was bright and comfortable and had everything I needed. Murphy gave me the run of the flat and provided coffee, tea, fruit and cereal-unexpected but much appreciated bonus! Murphy, himself, is wonderful. He provides insights and directions to all things local; he communicates clearly and frequently, and is a generous and all around great host! I would choose his home for every stay. Thanks for everything, Murphy!
Murphy was welcoming and friendly, making you feel at home, and as a real food connoisseur, always coming up with nice suggestions. The place was even better than the photos, with all the possible conveniences. The location was spot on, quite and close to the center. I wish I could have stayed longer.
Murphy was a lovely guy and made us feel very welcome, with lots of hints and tips about what to do on our trip, especially advice on where to eat - his recommendations were delicious! The room was spacious and clean, with a beautiful view over the townhouses. The flat itself has a fantastic central location, only 5 minutes walk to Princes Street. For anyone with an aversion to stairs, be warned - there are three flights to get up to the flat, but you will be rewarded with a very warm and welcoming environment. I would recommend this place to stay to anyone who is looking for a home-away-from-home style approach to travel.
My stay with Murphy was great. The flat is central and beautifully decorated, with a good shower, kitchen and dining area. Murphy is a great host; he makes you feel at home, and he is a great source of knowledge on all things Edinburgh (trust his food recommendations!). He often went out of his way to help us out with little things (such as stocking up on wine) and he provided us with good company and interesting conversations. And as if that weren't enough, his Miniature Schnauzer Herman is impeccably behaved and incredibly sweet. Highly recommended!
What a cool guy. Murphy's generosity & this cool place made for us a truly fantastic trip. Well-lit with creative lighting features, beautiful in a unique way, smells good all the time! - of essential oils of your choice, or Italian or fusion Asian Western cooking when Murphy's in the kitchen. The kitchen needs another full article space to write about..to put it short, it's a magical lab, & the soy sauce and sun dried collection was impressive. You will have to see it yourself. Beautiful and cozy dining area with potted herbs and flower arrangements..this one is heart stealer. We had relaxed and cozy breakfasts that's so easily prepared with Murphy's complimentary tea, coffee, soy milk, milk , muesli...so we just bought our own fresh baked bread from the bakery across the street and fruits, cheeses & ham from Tesco that's only 8mins walk away. A smart, stylish & functional space with lots of personal fine touches and art - besides electronic appliances that were more than our needs .. very clean & spacious rooms and bath, fluffy white towels+shampoo+shower gel+body lotion? Super nice!! Everything was exact as described..even better. And I love the flooring. Don't forget to walk on it barefooted even if Murphy provides slippers. The bed in super king room was very good for our 5 nights restful sleep. Book shelf with good books, nice interior; quiet despite being so central in Edinburgh, it's also located at a very safe area. We walked to all the places of interests- Murphy provided lots of good info on walking paths, galleries, patisserie, gourmet shop, restaurants that are not touristy. There's even an art material shop 100m away, both me and Jan are painters and glad to get our souvenirs here. We love this one evening with Murphy , Hermann & a guest a champagne party at Murphy's secret garden. Also really enjoyed the walks & restaurants. 6 days were too short for such good things. Murphy & Hermann are the best & sweetest team, we are so happy to experience such warmth and wise arrangements. Last but not least, the only thing that I could think of improving is the length of stay in Edinburgh.
We had a great stay in Edinburgh. The 200 year old flat is simply amazing, spotlessly clean and located in the nicest and central part of the town. Murphy was great in suggesting lots to do while we were in town. Highly recommended.
Murphy made us feel right at home in his lovely flat. We were able to walk to many local attractions from this place and it was very clean and tidy place. The bed was comfy and the shower's water pressure was great (two things that I am particular about). Murphy gave us several excellent recommendations for restaurants and specifics on how to get around the city. We could not have been happier with this being our first Airb&b experience!
Don’t waste your time looking at other listings - this is where you want to stay!
I owe a large part of my great stay in Edinburgh to Murphy and his wonderful hospitality.
The flat itself is amazing, I spent a month here and I can not recommend it more! The rooms are huge, it was always clean, and it has everything you need. You can easily walk anywhere from the flat, but if you wanted to take transit there’s a bus stop just across the street.
Murphy is an incredible host. He is extremely friendly and helpful. It’s truly invaluable having someone around with such a wealth of information about the city. I enjoyed every restaurant and experience recommended to me by him.
Although Herman (Murphy’s miniature schnauzer) failed in learning a new trick so I could win a bet, he is still one of the sweetest dogs I’ve met and an added bonus to the flat.
I would recommend staying with Murphy to anyone I know.
Murphy has been just 2 days , although i was unable to meet him I can recommend him as communication has been ok and apartment was in good condition when he left
Very nice people. Everything perfect.
Murphy and his friend were very nice, kind people. They looked after my apartment very well. Thank you!
Murphy and Lisa are good people and they where the perfect guests. They treated my apartment with a grate respect and left it neat and clean. I recomand them as guests.
Rien a dire de special sur ce voyageur. Tout s'est bien passe.
Murphy is a very nice quy and his dog Sherman is quiet and lots of fun. I can recommend him as a guest to anyone.
Very friendly,interesting people...perfect guests...!!!!
Very sympathetic pair with a cute cuddly dog.
Murphy and his friend were great guests and left everything in a very good state. I would totally recommend him!
Murphy was a great guest. Very outgoing, prompt on arrival and left the apartment in perfect condition! Would definetly host again!
Not only is this flat a haven of comfortable sofas, convivial kitchen and fun chatty people - who know how to entertain - but it's so central that getting to any major event or location takes no longer than 15 minutes by foot! This is easily on of the best places in town to stay and I'd happily recommend it.
Murphy's hospitality is excellent, he is a very good cook, his knowledge of local hotspots (be it food, art or music related scenes) is also vast. Very amiable chap who keeps a tidy home.
I would happily recommend this place to anyone thinking about visiting Edinburgh.
