Lucy and I are a retired educator and psychologist. We enjoy our property, friends and supporting our local community education and family support organizations
Bob and Lucy's cabin was very charming and offered all the amenities we needed for our weekend stay in wine country. The hosts were out of town, but we were informed ahead of time that friends would be tending to the farm and hosting us. Everything went smoothly and the hosts were very nice. We met Jesse the goat who was very friendly, the two sheep who were...well....sheep-ish, and a pen full of chickens who produced fresh eggs for breakfast! It was fun to walk out back and watch the animals, gaze into the Koi pond etc. The setting and location of the house was a bit less private than I had expected- as the main house and guest cabin are situated perpendicular to one another, but all in all it was a much better alternative to a hotel room!
We loved staying at the wine country cottage! It's perfectly located between Santa Rosa, Healdsburg and all the wineries you could possibly go to. It did rain our entire trip, so we didn't get to explore the property much, but we just loved how much the cottage felt like "home". Bob and Lucy were so helpful and sweet, they gave us great tips on local activities and restaurants, and even brought us fresh eggs from their chickens and coffee. Everything you need to stay in and relax, as well as explore the drop dead gorgeous surrounding areas. We cannot wait to go back!!
The place was beautiful. It was clean, and had a worldly and fun ambiance. Bob was very friendly and hospitable. The internet is unreliable here, so keep that in mind if you expect to have internet access. Overall, it was a good experience, and heartwarming to interact with the animals!
Response from Bob & Lucy:
Wish you'd mention the internet, it's an easy reset. Glad you enjoyed the place.
My husband and I took a romantic weekend vacation and stayed in Bob and Lucy's GORGEOUS and peaceful cottage. The moment we walked into the cottage it had a warm and cozy feel and the nicest aroma. Lucy greeted us and gave us some fresh farm eggs and a few suggestions on where we could visit while in town. She recommended driving up to Jenner and boy did we LOVE it! It's where the Russian river meets the ocean. Great recommendation!
We were able to truly feel at home and relaxed with wine for sale right in the cottage (which was delicious!) I HiGHLY recommend staying with Bob and Lucy. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home, it is clear how much love and care you have put into your home. It's a gem!
This was a wonderful choice for our week long stay. Hosts Lucy and Bob were great - always available for questions, but not intrusive. The location is in a quiet, safe area away from the city noises and a great central location for visiting wineries in both the Napa and Sonoma areas. It is close to SF and the coast for sightseeing. Finishing an evening with a bonfire was very relaxing.
The cottage was very clean and well stocked with items needed by travelers. It was comfortably furnished and we felt at home, able to relax in the evenings and the bed was perfect for a good night sleep. The kitchen was adequate to handle a dinner in, but Bob and Lucy were also great about suggesting restaurant options matching our interests.
Lodging can make or break a trip - this cottage and host Bob and Lucy made our trip special!

We had a lovely stay at the Wine Country Cottage. The room and bathroom are spacious and the grounds are beautiful. The bed is very comfortable. It was such a relaxing setting and a great location for visiting area wineries. We took many of Lucy's suggestions about what to do while in the area (Paradise Ridge Winery, Truett Hurst Winery, Armstrong State Reserve, and Goat Rock State Beach) and enjoyed each of these visits.
We had a great time. Absolutely beautiful, serene property; wonderful people and great hosts. Loved being able to take our son in to the barn to gather eggs in the morning. He was a little young to appreciate the other animals but enjoyed the dogs.
The cottage was lovely and the setting was idyllic. Very quiet, nicely furnished. I would recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a relaxed vacation in wine country.
Lucy was a perfect host! Unfortunately Bob was recovering and I only got to chat with him on the phone, but he also was very warm and accommodating. Lucy met us when we arrived and also waved us good bye as we left 5 days later. The cottage was private and quiet and had everything we needed. Lucy gave us great advice on local wineries and we were able to use a couple of the cards she provided for complimentary tastings. We are runners and she also had advice for a route that would be safe from traffic. We can't wait to visit the Sonoma area again; and when we do, we will definitely stay at the Wine Country Cottage.
Bob and Lucy's place is beautiful -- set in a small farm with charming gardens etc., etc. The photos tell a true story (though if you look closely at the ones of the interior, you'll notice the distortion characteristic of realtors' photos that are trying to make things look bigger.) What our hosts couldn't control was the weather -- two days of solid rain in the middle of June! Unheard of! Without the steady downpour, our stay would have been magical. Even in bad weather it's possible to go to wineries and Lucy was very helpful with advice about them and vouchers for free tastings. Although it wasn't possible to enjoy the garden in the rain, this studio apartment is a pleasant place to spend the day curled up with a book, or watching a movie. Our one frustration was that cell phone coverage was spotty in this area and the wifi was not reliable, though, since it is based on the cable connection, it should have been. Of course you don't expect to be provided with a home office when you go away for a few days, but very often it's only the fact that you can be assured of internet access that makes it possible to go away at all. So we had to drive down to Starbucks a few times in order to get a connection that would allow us attend to those things that can't wait even when you're having a few days in the beautiful Sonoma Valley.
