I spent most of my professional life in international development with a number of postings in Africa and Asia. My last assignment was in the Horn of Africa (Addis Ababa and Khartoum respectively) as Oxfam Canada's regional program manager from 1997 until my retirement in 2010.
I now have the opportunity and the privilege to return to some of the cities that impressed me the most and to explore other parts of the world that I was not familiar with. Each visit provides an opportunity to gain a deeper insight not only in the history and the culture of those societies but also in the ordinary life of their inhabitants. In this vein, Airbnb is proving a significant asset to achieve such an understanding.
I am intellectually curious, which makes me an avid reader. Architecture and financial markets are two other areas of high interest for me. I enjoy exploring local markets wherever I go and cooking for family and friends.
My home base is Ottawa, the capital of Canada. I speak French, English and get by in Spanish.
