I am a public health nurse and a musician (accordion, piano and guitar!) who grew up in Oregon and have lived most of my life in the Southwest and the Northwest. Right now I live the Columbia Gorge, about an 1 1/2 hrs east of Portland. I love camping and hiking, music and arts, and having conversations and getting to know people. My music taste reaches from Led Zeppelin to Beethoven to alt-country and folk, and I especially love hearing live music in small venues. I am also a big accordion nerd. I love playing eastern European traditional music and trying to sing Edith Piaf songs while accompanying myself on the accordion. If you are fluent in French -- well, I'm not!! But I try. :) Some of my favorite movies are Spirited Away and Little Miss Sunshine and Everything is Illuminated... some authors I enjoy are Milan Kundera and Edward Abbey and Bill Bryson. I ate up the Steig Larsson books. I also will confess to really enjoying reading the Hunger Games, looking forward to the movie.
I love to travel but haven't traveled internationally very much. I did get to live in Scotland for a few months when I was 19, which was amazing, and a few years ago I spent two weeks in France. Most of my travels have been in the US (and a little bit Canada!), but I hope to start seeing more of the world. I have thought about doing some international medical work.
I have not been an Airbnb host or guest yet, but I have hosted some people from Couchsurfing. I enjoy meeting people from different places, and getting to stay with a local while visiting an area is a great thing. I am respectful of different people's lifestyles and needs, open-minded and nonjudgmental. I'm vegetarian, but I don't mind being around meat. (& I do eat some fish.) If you are a musician I'd love to jam. :)
