I'm a mid-40s gay professional living in Vancouver's West End. What makes Vancouver so wonderful is the fusion of big city, salt water and mountain air. From my neighbourhood all three are within easy reach. It's why I chose this place when I settled here a few years back.
I'm originally from the East Coast of the US, and have lived in Montreal and Paris, France. Oui, je parle français!
I'm also a big fan of the arts and I sit on a volunteer board of directors for DanceHouse, Vancouver's premier contemporary dance company.
My connection with travel: My partner lives in Victoria, BC so I'm there often. I enjoy meeting people from all over. I have one of those faces that compels people to stop me and ask me directions, no matter where I am. This even happened in Florence and I know that I do NOT look Italian. I will easily abandon a hotel in favour of a place that's more "local". That's why I signed up for Airbnb. I'm guessing that you feel the same.
