Originally from SanFrancisco (Jim in Commercial and I in Residential lending). moved overseas (Citibank) in 1997. have lived since then in Riyadh, Brussels, Tokyo, Oman, Dubai, and (now)Bermuda (as well as a dismal 14-month 'international' assignment: Dallas TX).
Annette & John are from Wellington, NZ. Dubai is their first international posting. We're all four in our mid-50's to early 60's and are live-and-let-live kind of folks. We are eager to see Washington D.C. (haven't been there since 1994) with them in August.
Jim's and my favorite travel destinations are S. Africa, Bali, and France. Our primary love is recreational travel (think I currentyly have 309 destinations on TripAdvisor: 'Wanderlassie'). Most often our travels are two-star wanders-without-reservations, often 'road trips', sometimes a scuba holiday (we're both Naui certified). Jim was an international studies major, my BS is Nutrition (SanFrancisco State, 1973/1980). We met in 1989 and have been married since 1992.
We would be (and probably WILL be) airbnb hosts once we're no longer renters (with our overseas postings, we're renters and our leases preclude 'subletting'), though this will be after Jim turns 65 in 2014.
Five things I wouldn't live without? Travel, cats, red wine, friends, a good book.
I know we'll make excellent guests and look forward to meeting other wonderful folks through airbnb.
