The Eastside Spartan was very enjoyable to stay in as a mini-appartment and something a little different. We had never stayed in a trailer like this before and wanted to try it out. It's been beautifully restored and modernized. The living area is a decent size to relax in, and the whole thing was beautifully decorated, and equipped with everything you would wish for - bedding, towels, lots of spare toiletries, all kitchen equipment. The bed was very comfortable and we slept really well. It was a bit of an oversight that there wasn't a blind on one of the bedroom windows when we stayed - it made it feel slightly less private and it was a bit difficult to get dressed/undressed without feeling in view of the outside. Not a huge deal, but perhaps would bother some.
The neighbourhood was very peaceful. The nearby Leona st backs onto a big green cemetery so there's little noise of traffic, and it was very leafy and pleasant. There is a Juice Land that makes delicious fresh fruit and veg smoothies, and a good coffee shop, just round the corner too - about 5-10 minutes walk on E Martin Luther King Jr. Would recommend having a car to get around as it's a bit far from downtown to walk, only $6-7 in an uber taxi though. Car transportation seems to be a necessity for Austin in general though, it's not a public transport-friendly city, so we hired a car for our whole stay.
Jason gave us all the info we needed for arrival, and was extremely quick to communicate via text while we were there, helpfully responding to our questions.
Our only slight disappointment was that this was a very hands-off host. It was not a hugely personally welcoming experience - a note on the table would have been nice, or even just a generic printed welcome sheet with a few recommendations of things to try in Austin or local eateries, grocery stores etc would have been very much appreciated. This is part of what makes the Air bnb experience a bit special compared to just booking a private rental or hotel. If this doesn't bother you, though, then it's not a big issue.
We loved our stay at the Eastside Cabana. Jason and Meredith were very helpful and accessible via text/phone as needed throughout our stay.
The place is exactly what it looks like in the pictures. We loved the garage door in the kitchen - it was nice to leave that open while having a drink on the back patio. The bed is very comfortable (we're very picky, so this is high praise), kitchen had everything we needed, and the bathroom was well stocked with many towels, washcloths, etc. We never had any issues with parking right in front of the unit - even during a baseball game. It took less than 5 minutes to drive to the heart of Austin, so the location was great. We highly recommend staying here!
We had a great time staying in the spartan. It was clean, perfectly organized and adorable. Our hosts were close but gave us complete privacy. The location was perfect for our trip as well. We would definitely suggest staying here.
Jason was attentive to our few questions, and a great host. The place was well outfitted and exactly as advertised. Strangely, we really enjoyed the location, a block from the old Oakwood Cemetary. Part of our reason to visit Austin was for birding, and even the city birds were interesting at this location!
Jason's place is perfect for someone who wants to be near the entertainment but avoid the all the traffic and noise. It's very cheap to take an uber just about anywhere. The place is great, it has all the amenities you could need and it's very cozy. Will definitely look to stay here again next time we're in Austin.
We had an amazing time at this property. The Spartan is just as great as it looks in pictures. It's a very comfortable spot, in a quiet neighborhood, close to downtown and other main attractions. Jason was incredibly responsive, and made us feel extremely welcome. We would definitely stay here again and are eager to recommend the Spartan to others!
I loved my stay at the Eastside Cabana and everything about the space!! Jason was very easy to communicate with and the Cabana is in a very convenient area.
Jason was a great host. We never actually met him, but we met his wife, and he was very responsive via email and text. The Spartan in real life looked exactly like the pictures, and there were additional small amenities like shampoo and salt and pepper included as well. We even asked Jason's wife for a bit of butter and she was happy to oblige. We had our own porch and private yard, but Jason's house was just over the fence so he was convenient if we needed him. The Spartan was in easy walking distance to the University of Texas Austin campus, and we ended up walking a lot around the UT and Eastside neighborhoods. Overall, the camper was homey, comfortable, and unique. It made our stay in Austin twice as memorable.
Jason's Cabana was the perfect place for my Austin stay. It's located in the middle of the city, so we were close to everything. It was a lovely, light-filled, airy open space & even had it's own private backyard with a grill and firepit! Jason gave us privacy, so we never met him. But he was totally responsive before/during our visit and available by phone. The kitchen had everything we needed and I also loved the fact that it was in walking distance from Juiceland. I went there multiple times a day. I would highly recommend staying there!
The Spartan was the quintessential Austin experience. It was clean, centrally located and exactly as the photos show. If I ever make it back to Austin, I know exactly where Ill be staying. Thanks for adding to a great trip!
Jason and his friends were great guests, really friendly people. We had a very open communication and the house was left spotless. I would recommend them to any host.
Besides a few differences in a couple observations after guest checked-out, it was a pleasure having Jason stay with us. His communication skills were great. All the best.
Jason as his group were super guests. They enjoyed the beach and all the things that Tulum has to offer. Very friendly and fun to have visit us. We would recommend Jason to all airbnb hosts and hope to have him visit with us again. Craig
Jason was a great guest. Super easy and stress free.
Jason was a fine, considerate guest. Communicative and kept things tidy. Wish him back.
Jason was a very nice guest, discreet and smooth to communicate with. I recommend him and I'm sure he's as good a guest as he is a host.
Jason was a lovely guest, and although we barely saw each other he was very communicative, prompt, respectful and neat. I would host him again anytime... thank you, Jason!
This place is DECKED OUT! What a perfect place to spend a weekend in Austin and Jason makes it such a seamless booking process. Thanks a million Jason
Jason's rental has turned out to be amazing! It's very comfortable, spacious and stylish. The location is great and close to everything Austin has to offer. He is extremely attentive, has lots of knowledge about the area and always ensures that people have a great time!
I've known Jason for quite awhile now and consider him to be a very close friend. He has poured his heart and soul into the remodel of his lovely Eastside Cabana! I know, i've been over there many times to see the evolution of it. Anyone considering staying there should know it's easily one of the best locations in East Austin, and is central to everything good in Austin, TX! Not only that, but it's a helluva deal! Much love Jason!
Jason is a great host and friend and offers an amazing cottage very cloose to downtown and UT. He is honest and will go out of his way to make all have a good time! Go Jason!
