I've spent most of my life on the West Coast of the United States. I've spent 2 months in Italy, a month of that in a room of a gorgeous villa near Florence (Firenze) where I rode my bike, ate delicious food, wandered throughout the city, and read my books. I even managed to learn a little bit of Italian in the meantime.
I spent 2 weeks in Hong Kong, 1 week for work, 1 week to wander the city. I enjoyed the electronics markets, shopping, and nightlife there. Occasionally I got looked at a bit strangely when I ended up off the beaten path, but really enjoyed the experience. I didn't manage to learn any Cantonese despite the efforts of a very nice restaurant owner. I did get a waitress to help with my Mandarin though.
I enjoy traveling at a slow place when I get the chance and observing the pleasantries of everyday life in a new place.
I am currently a PhD candidate at the California Institute of Technology figuring out how to design nano-scale machines out of nucleic acids.
I love swimming, running, outdoors, dancing and learning.
