I have a bad case of wanderlust! Ever since my high school trip to France, I've been dreaming about where I might head to next -- and finding creative ways to make that happen. A semester in Paris in college spent working at the Gap, writing for Let's Go travel guides in Central Europe, a Fulbright program in India (where I met my husband), chaperoning a service learning trip to South Africa, a miles-booked honeymoon in Southeast Asia, a national teacher exchange in Japan, a raffle-won vacay in Cozumel, roadtrip upon roadtrip in the (email hidden) long as adventure is involved and there is some creative way to pay for it, I'm in!
Now that I'm a mama and a full-time working stiff (teacher/teacher educator/graduate student), there isn't as much time for the grand adventures I used to manage. And as a family of educators with babe in tow, not as much money to pay for those grand adventures. These days, I try to tack on mini-adventures to conferences (or just enjoy a soak in a hot tub after a long day presenting) and squeeze in weekend visits to old friends when I can.
Lucky for us, we are living and teaching in Mexico this year, which means even weekend trips near home are exciting adventures!
