Stephanie and Ben's house was perfect for a girl's weekend in Austin. The open kitchen and living room space provided room for everyone to be together and made it feel like home from the start. The chickens and their fresh eggs were a fun surprise, and the backyard space was beautiful. I wish this house was my own.
Steph and Ben were great hosts. They were very accommodating to our plans, easily contactable and their place was great. Very trendy, looks exactly like the pictures. We were in town for the Formula 1 Grand Prix weekend, it was also Halloween. We went downtown most nights, it was a $9 cab from the house to downtown - too easy.
Steph and Ben left us bagels, orange juice and some other bits to get us going which was perfect for day 1 breakfast.
The place had 3 decent sized bedrooms, again just like the pictures. All nicely decorated and the house was very clean. An easy sleep for 6, 8 would work depending on configuration, plenty of space though. Heaps of parking in the street in addition to the single parking spot they left for us.
The layout of the living space/kitchen and back deck was a nice setup for hanging out and having a couple of beers in the night.
All in all a great trip and helped by a great place to stay. Will look these guys up again if in Austin again.
We found a great hipster coffee place very close called figure 8.
The house was absolutely gorgeous with three spacious bedrooms, a nice kitchen, and a cozy backyard. It was conveniently located near the University of Texas and downtown, which made it easy to get around. We really enjoyed our few days at Stephanie and Ben's place and would definitely stay there again.
Was a wonderful accommodation, within walking distance to downtown Austin. We ate eggs from the chickens everyday and the bikes were great to have also. Backyard fire pit also! Highly recommended.
I stayed at Stephanie and Ben's place with a band of 5 during SXSW.
Their home is a little slice of paradise. It's spacious, open and clean. The backyard was our favourite part. The pictures don't do the large, very relaxing patio justice. We also found it pretty novel that they have a chicken coop, and took a few eggs to fry up during our big band-family dinner/BBQ. We also made use of their backyard fire pit, which was a perfect way to wind down after a long day. Their absolutely lovely house cat, Lola, was very friendly and actually made the stay even more enjoyable.
Not only was the house great, but you couldn't ask for better hosts. They left thorough instructions and recommendations for local eateries, and invited us to help ourselves to the food and beer in the fridge (which we definitely did :)).
The house is about a 40 minute walk from downtown, but that's really not all that bad since during SX you usually leave in the morning and don't come back until the evening. We usually walked in a group down 11th ave home every night or caught a cab (which ran us under $10 total for a trip from downtown).
Overall great experience and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Austin! Thanks so much Stephanie and Ben!
Very cozy home and in the perfect location! Stephanie and Ben are great and they are very gracious hosts. Their pianos and beautiful backyard provide an ideal environment for small children. My wife and I were very pleased with our stay and would definitely recommend them to others.
Beautiful, clean, comfortable, spacious, welcoming house. We really enjoyed our stay at Stephanie's & Ben's lovely home. Extra points for the piano that we got to play. Warmly recommended!
We stayed at Ben and Stephanie during SXSW. This was an ideal place. Located in a quiet neighbourhood. Just ten minutes with the bus to Downtown Austin.
The house itself is spacious and lovely decorated. The garden is huge, with a big tree to shelter from the sun if you want to.
Their were a bottle of wine and a first day breakfast when we arrived. Wich made us feel at home on arrival.
So if you're looking for a place to stay in Austin. Look no further.
Stephanie, Ben and their son were a pleasure to host. They are a wonderful family. They were friendly and considerate and followed all the house rules. The apartment was left clean and tidy and communication was quick and easy. We would welcome them back whenever they are in London again.
Great guests, and welcome back anytime. What I especially appreciated was that we had a power outage during their stay at our fairly remote "cabin" and when the power went out they could have freaked out but instead they were very gracious and sweet about the whole thing, so that attitude meant a lot to me.
Great guests - we look forward to having them back soon.
Stephanie and Ben's home is filled with details that make classic houses so charming. Their home is well laid out, and filled with light and air. Its comfortably sized rooms, and large, fenced-in backyard will make your stay a pleasant one. Their back deck is a fantastic place to grill and eat, and take in the lovely Austin evenings. We have spend many fun nights gathered around their backyard fire pit, at their spacious dining table, or just gathered in the kitchen around the central counter. Add to that their home's fantastic, location; near parks, downtown, and transportation. All and all it's a delightful home that will make your stay in Austin authentic, comfortable, and enjoyable.
Ben & Stephanie are two of my dearest friends and I have known them for many years. They have a lovely home & a beautiful lush garden space. They will take great care to a make sure that your stay is amazing. I highly recommend them & their home!!
We have known Ben & Steph for about 5 years, meeting Ben through work and then fast becoming friends. We've had many dinners together and traveled to Alaska together before we each had our first babies. They are consummate world explorers, open to new experiences and both welcoming and friendly with those they encounter. Their house in central Austin is comfy and eclectic, and is easy to feel at home in. Great folks, great house!
