If you are looking for quiet family style accommodations then this is the place. The gardens are spacious (big enough for football games!) and great for kids and the bungalows make you feel like you're part of the landscape. You have everything you need yet are not one of the hordes on the hotel circuit. There is no AC but you don't need it here. We came during the dry season and were plenty cool in our breezy "window" beds. Mark the owner is the tinkering sort, you will find him doing carpentry, gardening, raising kids. His hosting style is very much to respect your privacy and give you your space but he is super friendly and social if you go and get him! We also loved all his recommendations for things to do and eat on the island. We stayed 9 days and definitely plan to return and stay longer next time!! As a family of four with two kids ages 9 and 11, we loved Mo'orea and were sad to leave.
We had an excellent 3 night stay at Marks place. The cabin was charming with lots of room. The cabin had lots of character, excellent airflow and was fully screened to keep out any insects. It was very clean and airy. Mark has built the cabins himself with love and care and lots of character. Mark could not have been more helpful - picking us up from the airport even without any notice since we could not work out the Tahitian phone system, arranging a car, allowing us to check in early, giving lots of excellent advice about the island, minding our luggage on the last day. We would thoroughly recommend this place and would stay again.
Fare Manu at Mark's Place was not the "luxury" bungalow that we expected. There was no free wi-fi, A/C or even soap & shampoo. We found the bungalow dark, damp & dirty. It was very noisy with dogs barking, fighting and chasing chickens and roosters who crowed at all hours of the night. We were disappointed that good restaurants and shops were further away than expected. Overall we were disappointed with our stay there.
Mark's Place on the island of Moorea is beautiful and serene. Each bungalow
is creative, fun and unique...I only wish I had the time to try out each one
of them :) The location is ideal from which to explore the island on the back
of a scooter which Mark arranged for us. Mark is a very thoughtful and
accomodating host. Ashley and I very much enjoyed his company. Our stay with
Mark was A+. If we ever have the opportunity to return to Moorea we will most
certainly stay at Mark's Place :)
Mark was such a fun host and really lets his personality shine through all of the amazing bungalows he has built on his property. It seemed like whenever we were in our bungalow we hung out on the screen enclosed patio which allows you to be inside away from any mosquitoes while still enjoying the outdoors. He has bikes, snorkels, and kayaks available to rent, and is incredibly helpful in setting up any activities you would like to do throughout your stay. We were here for our honeymoon and can't wait to come back! Thank you Mark for an incredible stay and we look forward to seeing you again!

Mark was a fantastic host and our bungalow was a perfect place to enjoy Moorea. We loved having space to cook and enjoy meals, both inside and particularly outside. The woodwork in the place was beautiful and although there's no AC, we were very comfortable sleeping at night with the windows open (all windows have screens). Mark gave us a bunch of great ideas on what to do while we were there. We really enjoyed taking his kayaks out and saw tons of fish and dolphins. It worked well for us to have a rental car so that we had flexibility but if we do get a chance to come back we would probably just get a car for certain days and use Mark's bikes otherwise. We do hope to come back again soon!
Mark's place was a very cool experience. If you like spots that are a little more secluded then this is for you. A bit more out of the way, then the typical tropical hotel. That said all the basics are covered, there are a few little stores near by, and its extremely peaceful. Mark was great about giving tips. He seemed a bit busy at times and was prone to giving out the info one chunk at a time. But given the huge amount of tasks and work that he does, and the laid-back nature of Moorea, it was more than acceptable. I think he was looking into getting some more help. The area amazingly beautiful !!!
If your a surfer its a great place. The break was never to crowed, friendly people surfing. Plus Mark has a great setup for getting out there with a Kayak.
