I am a native of Philadelphia, been living in San Francisco Bay Area for approximately 30 years. I'm in my mid-50's, healthy and active. I am a bilingual (Spanish/English) primary educator by vocation and employment, with training and graduate education in European social/political history (16th Century Spain, in particular) and education. I have a gem of a partner, Lynn, approximately my age. We live in Bernal Heights, a hamlet-like neighborhood of San Francisco. Lynn is a National Park Ranger by profession and passion --specializing in public history and educational programming. We share a love of history, travel, languages and learning. We are interested in the natural wonders and are lovers the arts and world cultures. Some of our favorite places to travel are Italy, Spain, and Greece. We have a special place in our hearts for NYC and are enlivened by exploring new urban landscapes. Some of the places we'd like to travel more extensively include the Pacific Northwest, Ireland the Caribbean and Latin America. A favorite food of Lynn's: Pasta con sarde; A favorite food of mine: pumpkin tofu curry on brown rice. As guests, we are communicative, clean and tidy, easy going, friendly, respectful of space and privacy and appreciate the same from our hosts. Generally we travel lightly, have a few basic requirements: a comfortable, clean bed, aesthetically pleasant environment --prefer a place with character that reflects a time/place to generic hotel, good reading light, a means to make a coffee in the morning -- but mostly simple needs. We ideally like to have access to a kitchen and proximity to whole food markets so we can eat well and on our own schedule. Our life motto? "Younger next year!" and "May you live all the days of your life."
