It is a nice unit!Everything is wonderful. If it can be more convenient to get the key, there would be less trouble in our journey. Thanks again for the nice unit!
The place was great! Beautiful view of Ala Wai Harbor and some of the best surfing spots on the South Shore. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to stay in a convenient location between Downtown Honolulu and Waikiki.
This listing turned out to be a big disappointment. Though the location was outstanding and the facility itself had a great pool and lots of perks such as the convenience store and café, it was the condo itself that we found very lacking. Doors stuck, carpets were pretty nasty especially in the bedroom, we had loads of trouble closing the lanai doors as well as the window in the living room. The couch needs a serious cleaning, the bathroom fan didn't work, nor did the one above the dinette table which wobbled badly. The furniture on the lanai was all ripped. I think the biggest disappointment was the kitchen. It had no amenities--no salt and pepper, no coffee filters, the pots and pans were all scratched and unusable and it had hardly any dishes and glasses. We had to communicate with the lady who works for the property management company that looks after the place about a late check-out, and she asked how she could make our stay more comfortable so I told her about these concerns. She was very wonderful in that she actually went out and bought needed bathroom and kitchen towels and bowls and glasses and dropped them off personally within 12 hours of our e-mail. That was very impressive and greatly appreciated! But I'll never stay here again.
We have taken your response to heart and making drastic changes in the unit. Many changes are being made to make it a very nice place to stay.
My stay here wasn't the best AirBnB experience. It wasn't horrible, but not great. My biggest complainants are that the condo isn't well maintained, the floor is dirty, and the furnishings (other than the TV) are a little old and it's visible they have been throughly used (the remote also didn't work when I was there). The condo kind of smelled a little weird as well. Second, is that the A/C unit doesn't work very well. It is old, loud, and does not cool down the small studio. At some times of the day you can leave the patio door open and the breeze from the high level will be enough to feel comfortable, but not cool you down all the way.
The patio, view (being on the 30th floor), and location are the best parts. The view of the ocean is beautiful, and you are close to many things. So if you don't plan on being in the studio for very long (or also don't really plan on cooking), then this can work. Sadly for me the lack of upkeep and effort into the condo was pretty bad.
Also this is more like a VRBO experience and not AirBnB. You will work with a management company and not a one-on-one experience. While the privacy was nice, I didn't feel very welcomed.
We are taking all your comments to heart and making changes. Hope you will give us another try.
When we arrived we had trouble opening the lockcase to obtain the key and had to accept the help of a friendly neighbour. The key only opened one of the four locks (two on each of the screen door and the front door), but that was a minor problem. The facilities were good although they reflected the era in which the whole complex was constructed (in the 1970s?). Probably time for a renovation, although was more a problem for our grandchildren than for my wife and I. Our main complaint was the lack of air-conditioning. We appreciated the several electric fans in the apartment, but they only shifted hot air around the place. It was very difficult to sleep at night, given that we were staying during the hottest time of the year. The surrounding hills were stunningly attractive, although the coast was further away from the complex than we had anticipated. We made use of use of the two beautiful and well appointed swimming pools, but were did not stay long enough to use the laundry facilities. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Jeff's place and would certainly recommend it to other families looking to stay at a quiet, isolated valley fare from the bright lights of Waikiki.
Although he was not there to welcome my family and I, he did provide us all that we needed upon check-in and check-out. The description of the place is very self-explanatory. It's a very basic house with all of your basic needs provided for you plus many more. I did appreciate that there were beach utilities in the closet and I enjoyed seeing peacocks and chickens on the property. During July, it was pretty hot, which made me wish that this property had AC. My family did complain that the property was a little outdated, but I think it suited our needs just fine. There are tons of security to make sure that you are also safe on the property also, so it's kind of a hassle if you have a guest come. If you're willing to get away from the city life, then this is the place for you.
Unfortunately the key which was meant to be at the pick up point was not there and our first night in Hawaii was a fiasco rather than the smooth procedure which was described.
The room had a lovely view, however the hallway, lobby and lift were somewhat run down.
The neighbourhood was good in that it was located close to the beach.
The host canceled this reservation the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Jeffrey was very attentive before my vacation started. He was very responsive to my email regarding the condo.
As we arrived to Honolulu to stay at the condo, we found out that the condo is not ready and no key was left for pickup. Instead, we have to wait unit the housekeeper completed preparing the condo.
Also, during duration of our stay(7 days) we have called the housekeeper twice regarding the drainage problem of the bathtub. Finally, I decided to call Jeffrey about the problem too. He told me that he will call me back but never call me back. The problem was never resolved during our stay.
I received a called from the housekeeper the day after we arrived home from our vacation. She explain the problem of the plumber not coming and sorry of the problem not being taken care. I explain to her it didn't fix the problem while were staying at the condo... But only after we left that the plumber fix the drainage problem.
The description of the unit is semi accurate. It is cozy and small, but the same time outdated. The stove and Fridge are really old... But the TV was good size for a small unit.
The building is located across from the Waikiki Trade Center. It is near Starbucks, Restaurants and Night Club. What is nice Germaine Luau's bus pick is right in front of the Waikiki Trade Center.
Apartment is in an ideal spot only 150m down the road from the main entry to Waikiki Beach. On one of the top floors, it also has great views. A little dated but which was no real problem. Reasonably clean but found rubbish under bed when we left which we hadn't noticed so maybe missing a bit in the detail. 3rd person bedding was not left but was sorted the next day and we were able to make do for one night. Definitely follow key instructions and pick up on way to the airport as instructions say office is less than a mile to hotel but I left my wife and mother in law and it took me 20min to walk briskly there. Had to wait until about 2.15 for key to arrive, which was a little frustrating, before walking back. We were arriving in at 11.55 and expected we might be able to get to the hotel just after 1pm. I enquired about early entry at this time if apartment was ready and was told that it would be an extra $40 if I wanted to do this, however there was no payment for me given that I had to wait after 2pm for the key not helped by the fact that the wrong name was on the key envelope! 11am leaving time was great for us. This is a good apartment and we were all happy once settled in. No jug which would be an advantage but we were able to boil water in a pot so again no big deal. Also remember that airbnb rooms aren't serviced daily. Again no big deal but just be aware if you were staying longer than what we did. I would definitely stay here again.
