No trip to Italy is complete without visiting Lecce, it truly is the Florence of the South.
And Gianlucas place is a great place to stay.
Within easy walking distance of the beautiful city to view all of the architecture and history this town is known for.
The 3 room flat with a modern bath and kitchen is full of amenities, including an additional shower in a private outdoor area.
The bedroom is in the loft with a high enough ceiling to stand comfortably and a charming stairway.
Gianluca is a gracious host ready to assist you in fnding local areas of interest.
I highly recommend this property if you are considering staying in Lecce for several weeks or just for one day.
We really enjoyed staying in Lecce. The apartment itself was lovely with the traditional domed ceiling and perfect size for the two of us. It was quiet, cosy and clean. Everything you would need for a comfortable stay.
The location was perfect for the historical centre, just a few minutes walk from everything.
Gianluca and Ivana were great hosts. We arrived quite late to Lecce but they still accomodated picking us up and dropping us off at the station.
I would highly recommend staying here!!
Gianluca met us and showed us around the property. He was very helpful and told us about the area and recommended some
Gianluca's place was really perfect and he was a wonderful host. He met us to check in and was easy to communicate with. The location is great, just a few minutes to walk to sights and shops, anywhere you want to go you can walk. The apartment is exactly like the pictures and we were very comfortable in it. We found parking nearby - if you can't find free parking its not expensive to pay. Highly recommended for a stay in Lecce.
Gianluca was a wonderful host. He graciously answered many of questions and requests and had great advice, maps, books, music. EVERYTHING one would need for a pleasant, comfortable and enjoyable stay.
The apartment is absolutely wonderful, comfortable, clean and very well decorated. It's located just around the corner from a main entry to the historic city center. Very convenient and easy location to explore Lecce.
It was also a very quiet street which was great for sleeping. Easy parking too.
I'd recommend staying here for any trip to Lecce. I would certainly rent this apartment again for my next trip.
Gianluca is a helpful and genuinely likeable person. The apartment U-shaped, split between two-levels and the light well doubles as an open-air shower. The natural/electrical lighting is good and the space is very comfortable to hang out in and relax. The kitchen was stocked which makes you feel very much at home. The location is great. We were able to drive up to the unit to drop our things off, and then park on the street a very short distance away (4 minutes walking). The historic centre is 2 minutes walking from the unit and is very lively for a couple of days of exploration. Also, the less touristic neighorhoods are very close by on foot. We spent time in both areas, and there are some good restaurants/bars/cafes nearby. The location is also a very good starting-point for regional day-trips by car. We took full advantage and visited surrounding cities and had some relaxed beach days too. We both very much recommend the apartment as a great place to stay. Gianluca is genuinely very thoughtful and responsive host. Full disclosure....there was one totally uncontrollable/unforeseeable event that was a bit of a relaxation killer. We rented the apartment for 6 nights and 4 nights were completely mellow. On the 5th night it rained, and we noticed moisture dripping near the bathroom door frame on the lower floor at 8pm. We went to dinner and when we returned back about 10pm, the breaker was thrown (we had left a light on while we were out) and there was quite a bit of water in the unit. Luckily the floor sloped toward the bathroom and it was mostly contained there. We called Gianlucca. By this time water was leaking at the upper-floor block joints along the vault-line near the bed. He responded immediately and came over to check the exterior downspout what he thought might be blocked and causing the problem, which he then cleaned it out. The rain stopped and we all felt the issue had been resolved. Unfortunately it was not, and long-story short - later that night around 4am, much more water came in on both levels, breaker thrown, etc. We contacted Gianluca immediately, moved all our things downstairs by candlelight and tried to sleep through the din. It was a mess, we were exhausted, but luckily were able to find a very affordable bnb nearby on short notice. Both of us are architects, and we think the water was most likely due to a pipe leak/blocked drainage in the adjacent building. That means that there was nothing Gianluca could have done to avoid what happened, and we think he handled everything correctly, calmly and with great humor. (100% reachable, responsive, looking for alternative hotels, 2-night cash-refund, and he even showed up with pastries in the morning :) It was completely unforeseeable and we are confident that he will resolve the building issue correctly before the next guests arrive. It really is a lovely apartment and Gianluca is a great...
We had a nice and pleasant stay at Gianluca's house. Spacious and cozy, with a charming character to it. We were at walking distance from all sights in the old town which was handy for sightseeing and dinner in the evening! Thanks again :-)
Gianluca is a wonderful host and the apartment is even more wonderful than the photographs. It is a really tranquil place designed and decorated with flair and love.
Gianluca very kindly met us at Lecce train station and brought us to the apartment. He left us a welcoming bottle of wine and some Puglian snacks , fruit juice, bread , jam, tea and coffee for breakfast. We were just there for two nights but it will live long in our memory.
We decided to stay another two nights in Lecce as it wasn't really beach weather and Gianluca helped us find a place as the apartment was booked up. He also drove us to the new place. We can't praise his kindness highly enough.
