Something about ourselves
I am a Londoner by adoption and have been here on and off for the last few years. My partner Alda charges me with running the place because of my linguistic capacities and my international experience.I am a woman in her mid-60's, trying to be a writer. I am a retired development consultant who worked many years as director of development/aid projects in southern Africa. I lived in London UK for over 15 years where I worked as a policy adviser for Migrants and Refugees and also as an official Police and Court interpreter and translator. I also have some experience in academic research work. I was born and raised in Mozambique though my parents were Portuguese. My high school years were spent in South Africa. My interests are varied and include: photography, restoration of old buildings, nature conservation, international connections and friendships. Whenever I am in Portugal I share the main house with Alda the owner, who is a lawyer (attorney-at-law) whose office is in the nearby charming historic town of Caminha.
We like to travel and to share hospitality with kindred spirits and we also do home exchanges.
note: We obviously prefer guests who show respect or their temporary home and know how to be tidy and clean up after themselves! We have had problems with guests not cleaning even though the cottages are self-catering so if you want to have the place cleaned and tidied for you please choose a hotel instead.
