About Me
Otis College of Art and Design, California State University, University of Georgia
Hey, I'm Elena!
New York, New York, United States · Member since February 2012

My life is my motivating creative force. I live for good stories, adventures, and to laugh until it hurts. I have an amazing group of friends, a career I love, and two fat battlecats who are not plotting to take over the world. I love a good endorphin rush and require myself to vacate the country at least twice a year to a place I've never before.

********I’m really good at********
-amusing myself (I'm never bored)
-packing lightly
-solo travel: my first solo trip was in 2010 to South Africa before/during the World Cup! Was such an incredible experience that I vowed one solo trip a year. In 2011 I went to Guatemala, and in 2012 I went to Peru (all solo).
-creating playlists for my travels
-thoughtful gift giving
-life hacking & finding time efficiencies
-cat chasing
-singing poorly (still love to sing!)

********Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food********
A tiny sampling of each...

Music: Little Dragon, Nicolas Jaar, XX, Beach House, Explosions in the Sky, Radiohead, Miike Snow, Flaming Lips, Sigur Ros, Hot Chip, Nina Simone, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, LCD Soundsystem, Massive Attack, Royksopp, Zero 7, Daft Punk, Moby, Ratatat, KCRW, singersongwriter, Jazz, electronic,

Books: Harry Potter, Born to Run, The 4-Hour Workweek, Eat Pray Love, Water for Elephants, Life of Pi, The Year of Magical Thinking, Confederacy of Dunces

Movies: Princess Bride, Coming to America, Fight Club, Food Inc.

Current Shows: Breaking Bad, The Daily Show, 30 Rock

Food: Yes! Anything from tiny taco stands to ten course meals. As long as the ingredients are fresh, I'm not picky. I am a pescatarian/sushitarian/vegetarian at restaurants. I keep it borderline vegan at home (the occasional goat cheese finds a way in). I'm a bit of an omnivore when traveling...I wouldn't want to miss out on connecting to an experience or culture due to normal dietary constraints.

********The six things I could never do without********
-lip balm
-my cats
-cruelty free products
-love in all its true forms: self, friendship, romantic, platonic, etc
-my phone (for some security that it provides me in the sense that (1) I can reach out to a loved one at any given moment (all family members and many friends live in different states (2) the general single-female-in-a-big-city-always-have-the-police-at-your-fingertips kinda security.
