I’m David, a 27 years old boy living in the wonderful capital of Europe.
I can say I m curious, adventurous and always looking for new challenges.
At the age of 10 I started colllecting photos of countries around the world cut in old magazines. I would call the ambassy and other tourism offices to ask for brochures they could send home (internet wasn’t popular at that time).
When I turned 18, my parents offered me the opportunity to spend one schoolyear in California.
After 2 months of hard work cleaning offices windows during the summer holiday, I was in L.A. ! (No need to tell you how fun it was…)
Since then, I travelled the world ; hiked on the Lofoten Island, gardened in Woody Allen’s house in New York, partied under the Hollywood Sign in Los Angeles, taught English at the Chiang Mai University, met Santa Claus in Finland, rode a bike in the empty streets of Paris and most important : I met many great people.
To keep these memories alive, i always bring along my photocamera and a notebook in which I write down my feelings (It is always fun to reread the notes a few year after).
I also love making short movies of my holidays and invite my friends over to show them what they've missed ☺.
According to my experience, the most unique destination would be Asia. I ve only been to Thailand but from what I ve seen and heard, Laos, Cambodge, Japan, Malaysia, China, Indonesia are very tempting places to discover.
I also love wondering around in a city avoiding the tourist crowd and looking for the most authentic places to be.
I remember that old lady we met in a lavatory in San Francisco .She happened to be an ex stewardess for the Panam company ! We ended up talking the whole evening. Unforgettable !
When I travel alone, I like to bring along some books. The last one I read was about the History of England. I must say I m passionate about the Tudors and the British Monarchy.
I never go out without my Ipod. The music I like to listen to is diversified, I m a big fan of electronic music (Maceo Plex, M83, Plaid and many gréât Belgian dj’s), I like good old classics (David Bowie, Steevie Wonder,…) and last but not least, I like Broadway musicals (there you go, I said it)!
My favorite movies are the good old eighties/ nineties movies (Back to the Future, Jurassic Park I, Home Alone, Ferris Bueller’s Day off…), the Woody Allen’s movies (perfect atmosphere) and many more ! The last movie I saw was The Help and I enjoyed it a lot.
What I expect from the Airbnb experience is to dive into the culture of a country by staying in an actual residential area, meeting its owner and sharing some tips about the city I will visit or simply talking about life while cooking a good meal.
