Because of a change of plans, the reservation was changed. Brooke was very accommodating about the change and who would be staying. Even though it was originally I who was supposed to stay, she welcomed my friend who arrived in Vancouver before me. It was a great location and Brooke gave some suggestions of places to go. My friend did mention the curtain in place of a door and felt a little uneasy about that. She had a difficult time with opening the door to the hot tub. I'm sure Brooke would have showed her how, but she forgot to ask.
Staying at Brooke's place was great! It's a very nice apartment, and the living room that she has set up like a bedroom is comfortable and definitely feels sufficiently private. It's in a very good location, close enough to walk to several areas with restaurants, etc. And Brooke was extremely friendly and helpful, responded to communications quickly, and was overall an excellent host. I highly recommend her place, and would certainly stay there on my next trip to Vancouver.
Tl;dr? Overall I really enjoyed my stay at Brooke's place and it was great for tight budget travelling and attending a conference.
Location: I was attending a conference at the Westin Bayshore and her flat is in an ideal location to access the conference center on foot, fun places on Davie St and I even walked to Cobalt for a night of dancing! I also hopped a bus really easily to Lynn Canyon and back. Her neighborhood is really nice. There is a small park nearby, Nelson Park which has adorable skunks living in it! I walked to the bus station which is less than 4 miles away.
The space: I am so grateful for having a kitchen. As a student on a tight budget I really needed to be able to self-cater to keep costs down. Brooke has a galley kitchen which is well equipped with baking dishes, pans, a water boiler and really sharp knives! She has a small fridge but made space for my ridiculous amount of veggies and greens. Despite having a curtain rather than a door my space still felt private. The space itself is actually the living room of the apartment, rather than a bedroom, so there is a huge amount of space including a TV, dining table, sofa, bed and small chest of drawers. The overall temperature was very good for me and I could open the giant window if I needed. The water pressure in her shower is phenomenal. The shower fan is a little loud and as a nighttime shower taker I felt like it could be rude to run it, but I didn't want the bathroom to be swampy so I ran it a little and left the door open. The building is one of Vancouver's many nondescript apartment buildings but what it lacks in charm it makes up for in being very secure, having parking and being in a lovely location. Brooke gave me keys so I could come and go as I needed.
Protip: bring flip flops to go down to the hot tub/sauna area. I went in bare feet and nobody seemed to mind but there is a sign in the pool area which requests people use robes/towels and slippers to go back and forth.
Brooke: Great communication! I really appreciate the speed with which she texted and her timing was perfect. She is super busy and we only crossed paths a couple times which was fine since I was totally boring just going back and forth to the conference. We both kept odd hours and did not seem to disrupt each other at all which was totally what I was looking for in a host. She has great stories from her job and as a Vancouver transplant I think she has a perspective similar to her visitors. She gave me some great advice and answered my random queries about the area.
A very clean and tidy apartment with full use of the kitchen, a large private room with curtain divider, located right next to Stanley Park. Brooke was very friendly, respectable and a great communicator. Thanks for the hospitality Brooke.
Brooke is a great hostess. Her place is also bright, spacious and nicely located in the West End. Highly recommended!
I spent a week at Brooke's apartment and it has been a nice place, i could also use the kitchen. The room is big with a comfortable bed, a couch and a big table. Brooke is a really nice host.
The room was very nice, large and clean. Brooke was very convenient with everything. She also was a good listener as it was my first days in Vancouver, it was nice talking with her! I would recommend this place, which is well located!
Brooke was welcoming and kind! The apartment was what pretty much what I was expecting. The building was quiet, and I was comfortable during my stay. I walked a lot and liked how central it was. It was a great place to stay for a solo weekend trip.
The reservation was canceled 12 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Very nice house in a nice neighborhood. Brooke was a lovely host and ensured I had a worry free stay. Would definitely recommend her listing to others.
Merica is an excellent guest and absolutely wonderful lady! She was visiting me in Vancouver and I truly enjoyed her presence. I am looking forward to her next trip to Vancouver and hopefuly hosting her once again. My best wishes to her in her very big step to start a new life in Vancouver. She has no idea how wonderful this will be :)))
