Great room with a great host. Really enjoyed my time there
Paul is a very nice guy and showed to us the main attractions in the city with very enthusiasm. Ty rosa is a good place to be, and there is a bus stop in front, só is very easy to move in town. The breakfast is great, I loved the eggs benedict.
The host canceled this reservation 3 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Fantastically friendly and helpful, wonderful breakfasts, good rooms with comfy beds. Made being in Cardiff for work a real pleasure, will definitely be back.
Lovely place! Everything was well appointed and if I had any trouble it was addressed immediately. The breakfast is to die for. I loved being off the beaten path and totally appreciated the Doctor Who knicknacks! Thanks!
This was my first visit to Cardiff. I found the people helpful and ethnically diverse in the Ty Rosa neighborhood. Lots of chit-chat with all kinds of folks at the bus stop. The #9 bus is super convenient, literally right on the doorstep. Riding to the centre of town is quick (and a walkable 1.5~miles if you are a hearty soul; plus it is quite flat.) Once in town you walk a lot; I took the bus to save energy for the in town walkabout. Arriving at night I took a shuttle bus and the train back one stop, then a short walk to the Ty Rosa easily found with my iPhone maps app. The bus station at the heart of town which is right across the street from the train station is being rebuilt. One day it will be super convenient. At the moment you have to be willing to ask people for directions on the street for where the #9 can be caught in the correct direction to return to the Ty Rosa. There is a train for ￡4.30 from airport to Grangetown stop, I just missed the connection that first night. However, if you ride the bus during the day you can get an all day ticket (for that bus company) for ￡3.60. The room I stayed in was pretty tiny, and yet had everything you could need for a short stay. It might be a challenge for two people, but they do have larger rooms also! The shared bath was always clean and tidy. Loved the big fluffy towels. The main house where I stayed had the rooms one floor up. I think the average American has to remember that this is not the USA with an elevator on every floor. My friends who complain about stairs have to get used to the fact that everywhere you go in Europe there are stairs. I kind of get a kick out of the ones like this where you go up and around and then down and over. It's quirky and cozy and unique to this part of the world. Paul and Cheryl in particular were super friendly. I chatted with Paul quite a bit about the area. He makes a mean plate of British bacon and eggs which started my day off with gusto. The other offerings on the menu are fab, but I'm especially addicted to that bacon. I hope to return again and wander a bit further around the area. This trip I managed Cardiff Castle, the National Museum and St. Fagans as well as a good bit of random street crawling, sampling food and people watching in the pedestrian shopping zone. All accomplished by bus and foot. (St. Fagans bus was an extra ￡3 RT. - worth EVERY penny for the ride and the venue!) There is plenty to see and the Ty Rosa is a great place to hang up your walking shoes at the end of the day.
My sister and I stayed at Paul’s B & B in Cardiff during our recent trip to the UK. From arrival to departure we had an amazing visit! Paul and his staff go out of their way to make visitors feel comfortable, welcome and at home. The B & B is eclectic and unique, elegant and dazzling. Our room was comfortable and well appointed, with a comfortable bed and pillows. The highlights of our stay at the B & B was the food. We had dinner at the B & B in the downstairs dining room and it was absolutely to die for! Service was amazing and every item was cooked to order. The desserts were simply out of this world. We had a peaceful and wonderful night’s sleep before indulging in a wonderful, home cooked Welsh breakfast. I highly recommend Paul’s B & B and would happily stay there in any future visits to Cardiff.
Great welcome on arrival (kettle on - feet up).
Room ready straight away, facilities explained and all Qs answered.
Great reception, great venue, great location.
Made our Rugby World Cup trip to Cardiff a weekend to remember.
Excellent room and accommodations. Didn't have time to take advantage of the food, unfortunately.
Paul was very warm and accommodating. Highly recommended!
Perfect experience from the moment we walked through the door, great breakfast and walking distance to city or bay (15-20 minutes)
Looked after so well during our stay.
Glad you had a good stay with us and hope to see you again some time.
Paul's business, Ty Rosa B&B, is beyond any doubt one of my favourite places to stay--it's totally worth a trip to Cardiff just to be a guest there. I've stayed there many times over the last few years, and every visit has been wonderful. The rooms are exquisitely decorated and offer a taste of luxury for an extremely reasonable price; they're also very comfortable and a lovely place to just relax if you're tired of sightseeing.
The breakfasts certainly are five star--there's an excellent selection ranging from a buffet of cereal, yoghurt and fruit to a menu offering a variety of hot meals. The cooking is divine: a Ty Rosa breakfast is a real treat, not least because of the friendly and professional five-star service which comes with it. The B&B also offers an evening menu, and I can say from experience that choosing to dine in at Ty Rosa is a totally delicious and rewarding experience--the food can easily contend with the best of the local restaurants. Even better is the fact that Paul and Stuart cater brilliantly for special dietary requirements--as the daughter of a coeliac, this is something that I especially appreciate because a depressing number of establishments are ignorant to or uncaring of such conditions. To find such consideration for special dietary requirements is refreshing.
The communal area, featuring beautiful leather sofas surrounding a real log fire, is the perfect place to relax on an evening, reading or talking or just enjoying the atmosphere. There is also a wide selection of books and DVDs available to borrow in exchange for a small contribution to charity.
All the aforementioned features are wonderful and would make any stay pleasant, but what really lifts Ty Rosa to a six star establishment is the people. Paul and Stuart are an amazing, friendly couple with a natural gift for making anyone feel at home in an instant. Their radiant personalities make Ty Rosa an incredibly welcoming, entertaining place to stay, and the customer service they offer is outstanding.
I would highly recommend Ty Rosa to anyone considering a visit to Cardiff. You won't regret your decision to stay there.
Paul and Stuart are wonderful hosts who have created a fantastic place to stay in Cardiff. The rooms are spotless and very tastefully decorated with extremely comfortable beds. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly yet professional and the food is out of this world. Once you have stayed there you will go back time after time. I did - and now I am very proud to consider Paul and Stuart my friends.
Paul is a fantastic host and the Ty Rosa Boutique B&B is the best place to stay in Cardiff if you want a memorable and entertaining stay in the Welsh Capital.
Of all the places that i've stayed Ty Rosa is the best place and the one place that i have visited regularly. Since 2007 every year i have visited Cardiff, and this is the first place i make reservations with because for what you pay you get exceptional service and you feel more like part of a family than a guest. Nothing is ever too much trouble and the food and atmosphere are incredible.
Visit Ty Rosa Boutique and Paul for a memorable holiday and a home away from home with everything you could possibly want.
