I am a 26 years old french guy living in NYC since last June.
My roomate is away for a while and her bedroom is available.
Me and my friend had two brilliant nights with a lot of space. Remi moved out for that nights and his roomates we didn't saw often. The Central Park and the subwaystation to going Midtown are close.
We met Remi later for dinner and that was realy fun. He's a nice and likeable guy and showed us one of the perfect places for the nighttime in NY. Thank you for that! We had a great time!
It was nice to stay in the upper west side at this price! I did not meet Remi personnally but his roommate took good care of us.
I spent two weeks in August at Remi's apartment in the Upper West Side. The apartment afforded convenient access to Manhattan and the class I was taking downtown. There are plenty of great bars and restaurants around the immediate area, of course the subway is a short walk away allowing you to go anywhere in NYC.
The apartment itself was in a high-rise rent controlled apartment, near the top of the building. The apartment was safe (I had expensive camera gear with me but had not concerns for leaving it behind in the room). Remi's roommates were both very nice and I had no concerns with either one of them (I spent most of my 2 weeks in class, so I did not have much time to spend in the apartment).
I stayed in Remi's bedroom which was fairly spacious for a NYC apartment. Also, his room was airconditioned (the only one in the apartment) so the intense heat/humidity did not affect me while I was sleeping.
A few things about the apartment are worth mentioning. The neighborhood is safe but the apartment building itself is not the most up to date or clean (then again, what apartment in NYC is).
The elevators often had trash, or worse, left behind on the floors but this was cleaned every day by maintenance. You'll depend on the elevators each day because the apartment itself is on one of the top floors.
When I met Remi he mentioned that there had been a cockroach problem in the apartment (again, it's Manhattan, so par for the course). Remi and his roommates cleaned up the living space and kitchen before I arrived and were careful not to leave anything that the bugs could get to. During my stay I only saw one roach early in the stay and then never again during the rest of the 2 weeks.
This seems to be a building issue, not an apartment issue. The apartment Remi had was completely clean during my stay, so I'm assuming the roaches found other places in the building that were more suitable.
For the price that I paid the apartment was definitely worth it. It's hard to find any place that is convenient and safe for a 2 week period. I would have easily paid much more if I tried staying at a hotel. Also, I usually spend more time outside when I travel - so for me all I needed was a safe/confortable place to sleep.
Remi's apartment fit the bill and I think it is a good choice for budget conscious travelers.
I needed a place to put my father up into for a day and remi was willing to help. Everything went great, remi went above and beyond and my dad had a great experience. He and I are both happy to recommend remi as a host.
Remi was a PHENOMENAL host! The room was spacious and the apartment was immaculately clean. The location is great and totally safe. There are a number of cafes, boutiques, and great restaurants within walking distance. Remi is also very familiar with the subway system and can help you figure which trains to take to get around other parts of the city. I would certainly stay with Remi again on future trips to the big apple!
Remi was a good host. He wasn't there most of the time. We actually had the entire place to ourselves. The location was easy and convenient to everything. It would have been a better experience if the lobby didn't smell and the elevator was working. But overall it was pleasant.
Thank you Remi!
Remi is friendly and sociable. Let's say a nice guest. I recommend him.
Remi and his traveling companion were first rate guests. I would be happy to have either or both of them again anytime.
