This apartment is perfect for people wanting to experience a more authentic Paris. It is really close to the Marais and there are heaps of bakeries, cafes, bars and restaurants nearby.
In terms of metro, bus and RER it is extremely well connected. Nation, which is a main transport hub, is a couple of minutes walk away and because Paris is fairly compact, you can get to most places in about half an hour or less.
Carole is a fantastic host. When I arrived, the apartment was not only spotless but stocked with all the necessities. Carole had also thought to leave lots of Paris guidebooks, novels, stationery, cleaning products, condiments, everything was here for me to settle in immediately. She regularly emails or texts to check everything is going well. Any time I have needed help she has been brilliant, and on the rare occasion that I have asked for something she has sorted it straight away.
The couple who look after the building are charming and very helpful. The neighbours can be a bit loud on the weekends, but are very polite and are happy to quieten down if you ask. The building is generally very friendly.
I can't recommend this apartment enough for someone really wanting to feel at home and comfortable in Paris.
Carole was a DREAM hostess. When our airline completely messed up our flight and left us stranded in Chicago pushing our arrival date back 2 days (pro tip: never fly American Airlines) she graciously allowed us to book another day with barely any notice. She was incredibly organized, emailed us very simple directions on how to get to her place from the CDG airport and replied promptly to all my questions both before and during the trip. When the plane ended up arriving early and we got to the apartment at 6.30a she had already arranged with the custodian to meet us and give us our key. Because we were originally going to be arriving on New Years Day Carole was also thoughtful enough to leave bread, jam, and milk for us since many of the shops would be closed. Seriously, this lady is a pro!
As for the flat it was clean, darling, and had everything we needed in a safe, charming, non-touristy location. We felt like we got to experience Paris like a local! There's a delicious boulangerie we visited almost every day right down the street and her apartment is only a few minutes walk away from a metro station. There are all kinds of amazing little bistros in the neighborhood and even a small supermarket just down the street in case you wanted to eat in. If you are visiting from the USA you will notice the apartment is smaller than "usual" but we had plenty of room for the two of us and as smaller apartments are a general part of European city culture we enjoyed the experience. There's a small closet if you need to hang up anything, a book shelf full of books (including ones on touring Paris/learning to speak french), a kitchen, and even a medicine cabinet where we found things like soap and band-aids in case we needed them. All in all a 5 star experience! If we every come back to Paris this is where we will be staying. :)
Thank you Mollie. I really like my guests to have an excellent experience in France, So I am glad you did after all you went through, at the beginning of your trip. See you soon again, maybe !
My girlfriend and I had a wonderful stay at Carole's apartment. Unfortunately we were unable to meet Carole during our stay but she left her contact information in case there was anything we needed during our stay.
The apartment is located in the 11th district and there are markets, restaurants, etc all around. It is also very close to the Place de la Nation subway stop. It was very very to get anywhere we needed to go.
I would definitely stay here again if we ever end up back in Paris.
We were very fortunate to have found Carole’s apartment in Paris. Unknowingly though. The apartment is very well located in the Bastille area, 5 min walk to the Nation RER/Metro station. The location is the key to the apartment here, as it connects you to the whole of Paris without using any other public transport but the Metro/RER. The apartment itself is located in a secure building with dual secure entrances and has a lift. The building is well maintained. The studio is small, yet adequate for a short trip. Considering the location and the price, it is a very good bargain. Carole is available on phone to address your issues. With a comfortable bed (slightly narrow for 2 large people, though), a small dining table with chairs and a kitchenette, the apartment has basic amenities for a couple. It is also located close to a supermarket and a pharmacy. There’s a very good bakery 5 minutes from the apartment, towards the metro. Overall, apart from a few issues (and a major one with the TV not functioning), we were happy with Carole’s apartment.
Great studio and a very friendly host. The location was perfect for me. The bed was super comfortable and everything was clean.
My girlfriend and i stayed here for 10 days. We absolutely loved it. It was a very cozy studio. Carole responds to emails quickly. She even gave us some places to have some coffee or food which was great. Thanks for everything carole. We'd love to stay with you again sometime in the future. We definitely recommend her place.
First, we would like to thank Carole that waited for us, even though we arrived two hours late. She also drove us to the metro station! The studio is as you can see on photos: there is everything you need! It is well situated, near metro station and shops. Neighbourhood is quiet and safe. We would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to rest after a busy day in Paris!! Thank you Carole!
This apartment was absolutely perfect for my boyfriend and I. It was well situated near Nation metro which gets you access to pretty much everywhere you need to go in Paris. We felt safe in the neighbourhood and the apartment had everything we could have needed or wanted. I highly recommend this listing if you want to feel like you are living the life of a real Parisian because you get an incredible sense of home from this place and get used to the city very quickly.
After a month spent digging a water well in Uganda, I ventured to Paris where I lived in this little gem for a week. It's the perfect size for one person or a couple. The location couldn't have been better. Lots of places to eat, a market a block away, quite a few hip bars in the neighborhood including Le Bizart a block away. Walking distance from the Marche' d'Aligre farmers market. Two major metro stops a three minute, or so, walk away. Carole is awesome. I was not expecting the immense hospitality with the juice in the mini-fridge and biscuits on the counter waiting for me when I arrived. She drew up a detailed map showing me where to reach the metro, cinema, markets, restaurants, bars, etc. I would definitely stay here again. The price is insanely reasonable for what you get and who you're dealing with.
I spent a month in the apartment in June 2010 and I can't recommend the place (or Carole!) highly enough. I lived there alone and found the apartment the perfect size and it had everything I required. The area it is in is safe and has 2 metro stations very close including Nation which is a hub for a number of lines. Carole is absolutely lovely, I cannot say enough nice things about her. I was even invited to her family home to meet her friends and family. I never had any problems with the apartment but I know Carole would have been on them in a flash if I had. I'd rent this place again in a heartbeat. Nicole
I can hardly say enough good things about this charming little studio and about Carole. I lived in this studio about 9 months, and found it extremely comfortable, central and versatile. For the price and location, I don't think you'll find much better (especially on short notice, and especially with such a kind, generous, personable and strikingly honest Anglophone landlord as Carole). It's not as spacious as other places -- the kitchen certainly doesn't fit many -- but still, I do think it's a find. Enjoy your stay!
I lived in this studio for a year, and it really is lovely. The building is safe and quiet, it is close to several Metro and bus lines, and is within walking distance of Bastille and other cultural attractions. The studio itself is a great open space with a large window that lets in lots of natural light. The kitchen is tiny, but has everything you need. The bathroom is a great size with a large tub.
I never had any issues with the apartment, but if I did, Carole was always there and willing to help. She is a very kind landlady and truly cares about the apartment and the tenants who live there. I definitely recommend Carole and the apartment very highly!
