Meredith was arm and welcoming. She went out of her way to make feel at home. The apartment is in a beautiful neighborhood within walking distance of restaurants and bars. Easy uber ride downtown. I'll be returning soon! Thanks Meredith!
The accommodations are exactly as pictured and described. What can't be captured accurately in a brief listing, however, is how welcoming and guest-friendly both the host and her apartment are. Meredith had her place ready hours before the official check-in time and texted me to let us know. We never met her in person during our stay, but when we texted her with a restaurant question, she replied immediately with several excellent recommendations. At first glance, the apartment building, a wooden structure that probably dates from the early 20th century, might strike you as a bit shabby. But as you climb the two flights of wooden stairs to Meredith's top floor digs, you'll warm to its bohemian charm. And, once inside the apartment, there's nothing shabby about the place at all. It is immaculately clean, perfectly air-conditioned despite record heat outside, and stocked not only with all the essentials (clean linens, a very comfortable queen-sized bed, terrific water pressure in the shower, a wide variety of high-quality cookware, etc.) but also with thoughtful extras such as bagels, eggs and orange juice in the fridge, an extra iPhone charger, two spa-style robes, and a selection of shampoos, conditioners and body washes.) What's more, the location can't be beat. It's no more than a 20-minute drive to Charleston's historic district in one direction and to the beaches of Sullivan's Island and Isle of Palms in the other. The apartment itself is set amid Mt. Pleasant's Old Village, a district of charming, historic cottages surrounding a tiny vintage business district that's just 3 blocks from your front door. There's ample parking onsite and you're a 5-minute drive from several supermarkets, all kinds of shops, a half-dozen highly rated restaurants, and two beautiful city parks that overlook Charleston Harbor. You're also 5-10 minutes from the attractions of Patriot's Point, where you can also park your car for free and buy a $10-per-person all-day pass on the Water Taxi that runs an hourly circuit with stops at Waterfront Park in the heart of the historic district and the Charleston Aquarium. We would highly recommend this accommodation and would love to return there ourselves!
My husband and I have stayed at our fair share of Air B&B's, and this was hands down our most favorite we have ever stayed at! The price is incredibly reasonable for the amount of space you get, especially if your preference lies with having a full kitchen. The house was put together very nicely, extremely cozy and well decorated, and very well equipped. The fridge was stocked with breakfast necessities. Anything we needed throughout the stay was provided.
Meredith was incredibly friendly, helpful, attentive, and very respectful of our space, and it truly felt like we had our own home for a few days.
The location was perfect to get a feel for the local community. Mt. Pleasant is a quiet neighborhood lined with beautiful trees and houses. The Shem Creek restaurants and bars are in short walking distance. We recommend Tavern & Table for a nice evening out.
Downtown Charleston isn't far either. It was nice to visit the more touristy areas, but then have a place to retreat home to each night. We highly recommend Sullivan's Island beach, which is a short 10 minute car ride away from the listing. The beach is quiet and not too built up with resorts. It still has a bit of a rugged feel albeit residential. We were lucky enough to see dolphins swimming 25 ft away from the shoreline!
If you are looking for a place to rest and restore while having lots of options for activities nearby, we highly recommend this listing. We could not have asked for a better host or place to stay. It was heavenly!
Meredith was an amazing host! Her little apartment was clean, cozy and charming! The porch was perfect for coffee in the mornings and a cool drink in the late afternoons. In addition to all the thoughtful amenities (including a well-stocked fridge & freezer), she gave us a great list of local recommendations and hotspots. Her place is in a great location with quick access to the beach and downtown Charleston. We definitely were sad to leave!
Oh my Goodness! I finally found my favorite Vacation Rental in the greater Charleston area. Merideth was such a gracious host and the place was set up perfectly with lots of little things that made it comfortable and fun.
Meredith was kind and welcoming, and her home was super clean, functional, and very comfortable. We would definitely return.
Amazing trip! Meredith's place was so cute and quaint. Perfect location right near Shem Creek and just close enough to Charleston. Meredith greeted us, on a rainy day, with an umbrella and showed us her cozy place. She stocked it full of everything from breakfast foods to little travel soaps. She was very quick to respond to me and even supplied an informational email of fun stuff to do. This was my first time trying Airbnb and definitely won't be my last now. Wonderful experience overall.
Meredith was wonderful and her apartment is charming. Our stay in Mount Pleasant was amazing and starting our day drinking coffee on Meredith's porch in the morning heat was a big part of that.
Mount Pleasant was a great choice for staying in the Charleston area! Easy access to downtown, as well as a really fun spot to spend time by the water or visit the beach. It's a beautiful area, peaceful and quiet but still with plenty to do (and eat!) Meredith was incredibly welcoming, and her apartment is the perfect spot to come home to after a long day exploring the city. The apartment is located on the third floor, off a nicely shaded side street with its own parking lot, with tons of natural light and a nice deck. The listing was accurate. Meredith made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay; providing a list of local attractions and recommendations - she even booked us a dinner reservation on the night we got in :) Couldn't ask for a better host.
My husband and I had a lovely time staying Meredith's AirBnB. The location was fantastic and you are really minutes from the best food + Sites in Charleston. Aside from the general accommodations you expect from most AirBnBs, Meredith provided additional amenities in case you left something at home or needed a last minute snack. If you have any concerns, questions - she is very responsive and will do everything in her power to assist. Cannot recommend this host enough!
Meredith and Jack were excellent guests! The communication was flawless, very friendly and appreciative. They were very quiet and respectful, leaving the space in absolute impeccable order...very conscientious. I highly recommend Meredith to any host! And they are welcome back to Urban Peace anytime!
