Orcas Island Lodge is simply a gorgeous property. We spent quite a bit of time just marveling at the timber framed construction, beautiful floors, and unique appointments and furnishings. The house has a peaceful setting well off the main road, in the trees with views across the bay. The shore is accessible down a steep trail. Lots of books, magazines and games, a treehouse, horseshoe pit, and outdoor lounge area make it rather hard to want to leave to explore the island. Well-appointed kitchen and huge dining room table for those who love to cook. This is a great spot for family and kids, or an adult gathering any time of year. We visited during an unfortunately wet October weekend, and were happy to return back to the couch in front of the fire after tramping about outdoors in the cold. Summer would be simply glorious, I think.
Location: Restaurants, shopping, and groceries of Eastsound are only 5 minutes down the road and the entrance to Moran State park with lots of hiking is 5 minutes in the other direction. Very convenient yet very, very private.
No AT&T cell service, but the internet worked perfectly and there is a landline at the house.
We had some issues with the water the first day we were there, and the house was not left in the condition expected by the previous renters. Rob was incredibly responsive - even at 7am on a Saturday - and helped us fix the water problem remotely within the next several hours (turned out a running toilet was rapidly draining the water tank). He worked with us to address the other concerns and was very conscientious. I am confident that these minor issues were an exception to a typically flawless and smooth rental experience.
The home was so comfortable and beautiful; I'm certain that anyone who visited would be delighted. It is a fantastic, spacious, and beautiful location for any kind of group small or large.
Thanks for sharing the Lodge with us, Rob!
