I have to say I have had many people stay here at the Temple and never had any complaints but, there is always a first. Tom and his companion were very distant and I did not have much interaction with them for they were not very friendly to me. As with many places here in Hawaii there is no air conditioning in the houses. This is not something I can help. It seems that some people people run really hot and it is unfortunate for them. I had turned down several people to stay here with us in order to reserve the room for Tom. Which his unreasonable request to just leave was leaving us in a very unfortunate situation. When I spoke with airbnb they said, I had valid reason to deny his request for a refund. We tried to help them as best we could by bringing in several fans. We all sleep in the same house and know that it is a very beautiful amazing space with lots of air flow. They also had the option to sleep on the lanai if they would have asked. But, they just opted to leave and not discuss the matter with me. Rhea is only a volunteer who cleans the house and not the one to make the arrangements. I feel very sad that Tom felt the need to write such a complaint and not take responsibility for his lack of communication. And lack of understanding of my position. To only see it from his perspective and feel justified in making a choice to take out his frustration on the Sanctuary to ruin what can be the most beautiful stay for others.
Airbnb said to me that his complaints were unjustified and I was within my rights to deny his full refund. So therefore he wrote this review.
They were very unfriendly and closed to the others. I did not feel a very community vibe from them at all. It seemed their expectations were far different from what we provided. I felt very uncomfortable with them from day one.
I tried my best to be friendly and they were just not open. So I just chalked it up to different personalities.
I wish you well and hope next time you rent a room you ask does it have air conditioning we run unreasonably hot.
As to not blame the space with not providing you with meeting your needs.
Also if you would have contacted me personally to rectify the situation we could have come to a reasonable agreement. But, due to you hasty choices it left me without any recourse and to deal with it through the avenue you set forth. I wish you well and hope the rest of your vacation went more in alignment with your expectations. I'm sure you asked if they had air conditioning.
