This is our second time at George's little Haven. We hope to return next year! His place is so welcoming, warm and perfectly located for wonderful XC skiing. We had everything we needed, comfy bed, full kitchen and lovely views out the windows . It felt like coming 'home' this time. Thank you George!
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at George's Haven which was my base for some great cross-country skiing in the area. George and Kathy were warm and welcoming hosts. The apartment living room has a wonderful view of fields, woods and mountains beyond. The fridge had delicious home-baked zucchini bread enjoyed with a nice selection of teas - kitchen is fully equipped for fixing meals. The living room has comfortable seating and a nice selection of books, interesting info on the Hardwick area and DVD's while you're enjoying the view. After long days of cross-country skiing I had no trouble falling asleep on the comfortable bed. Also very useful is a decent cellphone signal and home wifi - the "kingdom" is notorious for having blank spots in coverage so this was very handy. The location is also convenient (10-15 minute drive) to Hardwick village which has most services including restaurants, groceries and a bookstore. All in all, the set-up and the hosts are great and I would gladly return.
We had a wonderful experience at the Hemmens' lovely guest apartment. The hosts were warm and welcoming. The apartment was comfortable, spotless, and so well equipped that we lacked for nothing. It was a pleasure to see a spectacular sun rise every morning over the mountains from the window of the sitting area.
We had a lovely stay in the studio at George and Kathy's. The view is stunning and the space is comfortable, cozy and full of light if you want it. Although our trip was work related we truly enjoyed relaxing in what little time we had to do so. Sadly because of our busy schedule we had little time for interaction but our arrival was greeted warmly and thoughtfully with sundries of milk, juice, and zucchini bread. All in all a truly positive experience.

Our stay there was just perfect! Kathy and George are lovely. Their welcome was exactly what we needed to start our holidays the best way. The studio is confy and cute with an amazing view. It was really clean and Katy cooked us a yummy zuchini cake, so good! They helped us with all our questions about the area and gave us really good advises with what to see and where to go.
We will go back for sure:-)
We had a lovely, relaxing stay here in East Hardwick. We received a warm welcome from Kathy and George, who were gracious in offering any help needed or answers to our questions. The setting is beautiful; the studio spacious, clean and comfortable, equipped with everything needed -- plus George's pottery dishes and vases; and enough coffee and food (including fresh-baked banana bread) to get us started!
There are beautiful gardens, a stretch of open land, and views of the mountains from the Adirondack chairs.
Altogether, a quiet, peaceful place near some great places to hike and explore.
What a sweet spot to stay in the North East Kingdom of Vermont. George and his wife Kathy were great hosts. Banana bread, milk, fruit and coffee were all stocked in the fridge, the apt was immaculate, the bed comfy and the view from the East facing windows amazing. We felt very welcomed. We skied at wonderful XC areas a short drive from their home both days. It was a real "Haven" for us. Thanks so much, we hope we can come back next Feb, Terry and Evan
Our stay with George was great. On a cold January weekend the apartment was warm and well shoveled. Getting in and out was easy. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to experience the great north woods in any season.
Our stay was exceptional. We feel that it should be named "Heaven" in the North Kingdom. The accommodations contained everything necessary to make this stay beyond what you would get a hotel chain. From the homemade goodies to that spectacular view, we were more that satisfied. We would definitely stay again.
Living at George's Studio apartment was a great experience. They were very good and warm hosts and provided us with bluberry muffins and jucini bread. Also made sure that our stay was comfortable and nice.
The apartment itself was very clean and well decorated, also they have amazing views just outside the apartment. We clicked lot of pictures just outside the apartment and we could see all the hills and lot of vermont in its amazing colors from there.
Overall a very positive experience and would definitely want to go back there. Would recommend it to anyone who wants to be near nature to go to this place.
We enjoyed Having you and your family here. If you send me a mailing address, I will send the sweater you left.
We've enjoyed George and Kathy Hemmens. These quiet sun- and nature lovers seemed to have enjoyed Sarasota and our cottage. We would love to welcome them back.
Diana and Elwin.
We enjoyed hosting this duo from Vermont. Very charming, clean, and nice to chat with briefly on their busy schedule with their daughter who lived a few blocks away. We'd be happy to have them back any time.
George was my first airbnb guest with his wife and daughter
They left my place in great shape and were very respectful of the space. I have no qualms about renting to them again!
