We had a really nice stay at the Ashevillage Sanctuary this past weekend. Everything about ourstay was clear and straightforward. The location was great -- easy walking distance to downtown, good parking, informal, quiet house. It was nice meeting other people staying at the house and Quinn was warm and welcoming. We enjoyed taking a look at the winter garden and some of the building projects on site and would return there (especially when it's warmer!)
Upon arrival, I was greeted by Quinn, very outgoing and passionate about hosting people. She even hand wrote me a welcome card! The house was kept clean throughout and smelled wonderfully from fresh herbs and spices cooking. Great place to stay!
We had a Great time staying in the Rose room. The room was as advertized and the house was spacious and comfortable. Although we arrived too late to be greeted by Quinn, she was thoughtful enough to leave us a delightful welcoming note with instructions for the keys and parking. The neighborhood and felt safe and within convenient walking distance to all of the shops and restaurants downtown. We would definitely stay at Ashevillage again when traveling thru the area.
Asheville Sanctuary was awesome! It was exactly as advertised so be sure to read the description in full. The space is very serene and enjoyable, and Quinn was an awesome and easy-going host.
You will be in close proximity to the guests in the other 3 rooms (one shared shower). Also this is an older house that is heated by wood, which I very-much enjoyed but might not be for everyone.
The place is super close to downtown, so it's extremely convenient in that regard. If you're looking for a chaming and eclectic place, I'd recommend staying here.
We had a great stay here. Quinn is an awesome host & was very helpful throughout. The house has great ambience & is perfectly located between downtown & Biltmore. You can easily walk to downtown, which basically has great restaurants/bars/breweries. There is a trail right through the backyard of the house which was pretty cool & a must-visit. I am definitely coming back :)
Quinn met us at the house when we arrived. She was super friendly and explained everything about the home to us. We were not overly familiar with airbnb so she filled in the blanks for us. The home was as expected although for some reason I thought there were two full bathrooms. That was probably my mistake.... There are 1.5 bathrooms so only one shower/bath combination. Each bedroom had clean sheets and towels. Each room had a space heater that allowed the occupants of each room to customize to their liking.
Our host was very accomodating and we found the space clean and neat and fit the description we had read online. Never had problems finding parking and appreciated its nearness to downtown. It's somewhat of a communal setting, but neither the noise or other guests were distracting or disturbing to our experience. Getting access to the upstairs bathroom and shower proved challenging only one of the mornings out of our five day stay. We would stay again in the future if possible.
The Sage Room was comfortable and cozy. We had a great conversation with Quinn and some fellow guests on our first morning. What's more, Quinn was very attentive, responsive, and an overall great host! She wrote us a nice welcome card and had the space heater turned on and warming the room for us when we arrived Saturday evening.
What's more, the location was wonderful! We were a 10 minute walk to downtown Asheville and a 10 minute drive (if not less) to the Biltmore.
Unfortunately, we had one major mishap: the bathroom. While we knew that there was only one full bathroom to share amongst over 3 rooms of guests, and while this did not pose an initial problem because of the "house rules" outlined prior to arrival, we did not expect the single bathroom to be as dirty as it was. The sink in the full bathroom (as well as the sink in the half bath downstairs) did not drain properly, if at all. As a result, we could barely wash our hands without touching the dirty water resting in the sink. What's more, since more than one guest shaved, the hair stuck to the side of the basin and floated in the dirty water. Second, the bathroom mat on the floor remained wet and cold throughout our three day stay. As a result, our feet were always wet and cold when moving in and out of the bathroom. I suggest that the bathmat be dried everyday - perhaps in the middle of the day - to avoid this problem.
A smaller issue was that the dirty sheets and towels (from other guests) remained on the floor in the living for the majority of our stay. While this wasn't a big deal, it was something we walked past every time we entered the house and headed up to our room.
Overall, while Ashevillage Sanctuary was a pleasant place to stay, there is certainly room for improvement that I hope will be taken into consideration in the future.
The property and grounds are very homey and only a short walk from downtown Asheville. It is an interesting place and the people who were staying there at the same time were eclectic and outgoing. We would stay here again.
I had such a lovely time in the rose room at the ashevillage sanctuary. Quinn is a sweet person and generous host. it was fun being in the guesthouse w the other guests - one family let me drink their wine & cuddle with their dog! the garden is AMAZING and the neighborhood is super cute and within walking distance of downtown. I kind of wanted to move in, I loved it so much... :)
Ben is a kind and considerate guest. He was a pleasure to get to know and a wonderful guest. He is welcome back anytime.
