This is truly a beautiful home. The redwood single wall construction is gorgeous. We were there during a cold snap, but the fireplace and furnace kept the house warm and cozy. The living room is large and has plenty of seating for a large family to visit. Books, games, music, television and wi-fi. Everything a home needs to feel comfortable. And just a few minutes(if that) to 13th St Beach. We are sure to visit again.
This is a cool little place: quaint and cozy. Very clean and comfortable but definitely old school (e.g. floor heaters). Beautiful patio made us leave our worries behind. Super short walk to one of the nicest beaches I've ever been to. Will definitely return.
Lovely home, quaint charm. Great location, near town and beach.
We (two families with preschool children) had a wonderful time. The house was spacious and well located, not too far from central Carmel and an easy stroll to the beach. Our kids had a grand time running around the huge front yard, and the street was quiet - so we weren't worried about cars tearing down the road.
Wonderful house full of character. Close to all the amenities very clean and lots of room. There are very clear instructions to where everything is and how everything works. Good value in a great area I would definitely recommend to anyone traveling in the area.
The house was awesome. A great value in a great town. So close to the beach in a beautiful quite neighborhood. Kids loved it as did we all.
Ron is a great host - thoughtful and responsive.
The house is beautiful. From the large and private yard with flower beds, giant oaks and fluttering moths to well-proportioned rooms and all the way down to the embroidery on the office chair and everything in-between.
Besides the office there is also an enormous and comfortable living room, so one can be private without being stuck to one's bedroom or spend the evening all together without feeling cramped. All three bedrooms are comfortable and have their own good points - one is large and beautiful, one is very private, and one is easily baby-proofed and has a view of the garden.
Location is perfect - short walk to the Mission, to the beach, and to downtown.
This is not a toddler-friendly house, there are too many lovely and breakable things, but it is great for everything else.
Ron was a great host and took care of all our concerns. We had some plumbing problems but Ron had a local plumber come out a correct within couple hours.
A great location just a couple blocks to the beach, on a beautiful quiet neighborhood with a beautiful entry courtyard. The house was a very nice vacation bungalow. The living room comfortable and great place to hangout. The master bedroom was big with a sitting room off to the side. The other two bedrooms were adequate. I guess the only criticism that Dianne and I would have was the walls were thin and with all the beautiful wood a little creaky at night.
We chose this place because our son-in-law was doing the Big Sur marathon and it looked like a good location . As it turned out it was perfect.
We would definitely recommend this place to friends and we would stay there again .
We stayed for a long weekend in Carmel at Ron's "Joie de Vivre" house. This was our first stay in Carmel. It is worth noting that in Carmel proper houses only have names and not numbered postal addresses (there is no postal service). As long as you realize this when getting directions the house is easy to find.
The yard is completely fenced in and quite private making it convenient for kids to play outside. The house itself has everything you might need. We spent most our indoor time in the family room around the fireplace. The three bedrooms and two baths are well furnished. The master has a sitting room off to the side. The kitchen has a range, oven, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, bakeware and utensils. There is also a washing machine and dryer.
Ron was an easy host to deal with which made for a pleasant transaction. The philosophy of the house is to help yourself but replace anything you finish.
Ron, his wife and two children stayed at our cottage last week-end. What a charming family! They stayed for less time than originally planned due to changes in their travel schedule. They never inconvenienced me and were such good guests. I just hope that they enjoyed their stay. The place was left in pristine condition and they even left and iron, ironing board and hair dryer as a house present. For this I am most grateful and of course, these will be much appreciated by future guests.
Our pet spaniel, Pippa, has been missing them !
I would recommend Ron and his family to anyone thinking of hosting them.
