Angelo was a 5 star host. The room was ok, but for the cost of the room in the heart of Roma, with lost of restaurants. Was well worth some inconveniences. Had a great time in Roma
I would endorse the comments the previous reviewer made. This studio has three enormous advantages - it's really well located (short walk to Metro, or a 15-20 minute walk to the old heart of Rome); it's affordable; and it's quiet. So any criticisms beyond that are minor - it's pretty basic, but clean and comfortable, and quite roomy, and cool (but no windows to look out). Angelo kindly rescued me when I stupidly locked myself in the stairwell, and then bought me a coffee! Thanks Angelo - recommended.
Angelo is a great person.I really liked him . The studio is nice too but depending on what are you looking (website hidden)'s big but the low point about this is that is located on the basement of a 19th century building (Nice house). It means that have no light coming from outside; there is a window that doesn't allow to have daylight due to the location of the studio. Some people will like this place as there is not noise at all coming from outside the street. Location is perfect in all the senses. 5 minutes walk to the Vatican and another 7 minutes to the old town. As Rome is a city for walkers you can take everyday a different route to visit the city as you need to cross the river to see the old town. Metro station is 3 minutes walk if you are tired of walking. The Prati area is very nice as you can have very good restaurants and bars not very expensive (even is an upmarket area) as in the old town and the food is great too.
As I said depending on what are you looking for, Angelo's studio was fine, with television with lots of italian channels and the BBC (the only channel in english).
Regarding the water, be careful how long you are in the shower as it doesn't last long.
I loved the vaulted ceiling of the studio is a nice pice of architecture. In a few words I could say I enjoyed staying at Angelo's place.
The star rating here needs to be separated into two categories: Angelo the renter and the apartment.
Angelo received 5+ stars without question.
The apartment receives the 3 stars as above.
I would like to begin by stating that Angelo was an absolutely AMAZING host. He provided everything requested to make our stay as good as it possibly could be. He even brought us around the back streets of Rome to show us the local's social scene. He is a truly fantastic person to rent from.
The location of the apartment was fantastic. Only 4 short blocks from the nearest metro station, across the street from the nearest bus stop, and within walking distance of the Vatican, Castle de Angelo, and countless quality retailers and cafes.
The apartment we stayed at was adequate; however there are a few things that should be known. It is located in the basement of an apartment complex, just below the main entrance. This provides a very quite and peaceful atmosphere. Unfortunately, it also feels relatively isolated from the hustle and bustle of Roman life at the street level. The only window in the apartment leads to a segment of the apartment building that is under construction, although no one was working on the site during our stay. The unit is very spacious for a studio, however, allowing for plenty of room to move about.
The apartment furnishings are bare-bones, but everything that you need is provided. This includes a bed with some small shelving, a sofa, a TV, clothing racks, shower, sink, and toilet. Clean bed sheets and towels were provided, as well as some bathroom essentials.
As a result of the location in the apartment building, there was a significant amount of humidity in the unit which tended to leave clothes and sheets feeling slightly damp if exposed.
The hot water for the shower is provided from a small boiler in the room, which can supply approximately 8 - 10 minutes of hot water at a slow flow rate before needing to reheat a reservoir of water. This was slightly problematic at times, but we learned to cope with it. The sink, however, was supplied from the building, so hot water was plentiful.
Although wifi internet access was provided, the connection speed was painfully slow (between 3 and 10 kB/s). In other words, to load gmail from (website hidden) would take an average of 5 - 10 minutes.
In sum, this apartment was suitable for our stay and it was an absolute pleasure renting from Angelo.
Angelo is a nice guy.
The apartment was a basement with no windows.
