Hi, I'm Jadzia and I have a beautiful cottage in Kells, Co Kilkenny. Ireland. My interests are walking, the open countryside, a love of nature and a passion for gardening & music.
First Jadzia and Dave were wonderful hosts. They had lots of fantastic ideas on places to see and shop. Because of their suggestions I met many lovely artists. The cottage is just charming, cozy and beautifully decorated. Between them and the cottage I felt right at home. Oh and their garden is the perfect place to just unwind. Dave gave me some Celtic music and I have just so enjoyed it. From the moment I arrived I felt like they were friends who had welcomed me into their home. I will come back and stay again.
I cannot say enough about what a magnificent experience it was for our family to stay in the Enchanting Mill Cottage. Dave and Jadzia were the perfect hosts and helped us tremendously with planning our trip even before we arrived. The highlight of our stay was when they made arrangements for our family to visit a working sheep farm, where our daughters got to see and hold one-day-old baby lambs, as we were at the peak of lambing season during our stay. This was truly priceless, and we are so thankful for the experience. The cottage is in the most beautiful location, right next to the historic Kells Priory, and you can see and hear sheep from the bedroom window. It doesn't get any more authentic "Ireland" than that. We loved everything about the cottage. The beds were warm and comfortable, and the fireplace was roaring every night when we got back from our day. Each morning Dave brought our girls out to the back yard to collect eggs from their chickens, and we loved having fresh eggs for breakfast. They also gave us two lovely CDs of Irish music to enjoy while we drove around the country in our rental car. We enjoyed visiting with Dave and Jadzia and are happy to call them our friends. We could not have picked a better place for our family's first trip to Ireland. We were sad to leave and definitely plan to return one day. Thank you for a magical week in a beautiful country!
We really enjoyed the experience in Inistioge. It is a lovely village set in a ludicrously idyllic landscape. The Pottery has been lovingly restored and Jadzia provided some lovely touches to make us feel at home.
Staying at the enchanted mill cottage was the perfect first holiday for our little family since we had a son 8 months ago. We could not have picked a more beautiful and cosy house to stay in made even better by the wonderful warm hospitality of Jadzia and Dave. They made sure we had everything we needed to have a lovely stay but more than that they really took time to talk to us and get to know us and after the few chats we had I knew that they were very special people!
The house itself is delightful in every way - the outside made me squeal with excitement as we pulled us, it was like the pictures you see on the front of boxes of fudge! It felt so authentic and yet modernized to be really comfortable with lovely cosy heating and everything you would need in the kitchen and a wonderful shower. The bed was one of the comfiest I've ever slept in, you could get lost in it and the wonderful fluffy pillows and duvet.
The best thing inside the house was the huge old fireplace,, it made for such cosy evenings and bathing our little boy in front of it before his bedtime is one of my fave memories so far! There are also lots of DVDs, books and CDs around the place and i loved listening to Nick Cave whilst cooking dinner!
The location of the place is idyllic too, in a beautiful village beside a river and an old mil and just a short stroll to one of the most impressive sites I've seen in Ireland - kellys Priory. Also the house is really close to kilkenny and a good base to go for days out further afield to Wexford and the coast,
It was one of the loveliest trips I've ever had and definitely the nicest place I've ever stayed, didn't want to leave and will be going back for sure!
Beautiful house, beautiful area and beautiful people, could not ask for more
Myself and my girlfriend spent a fantastic weekend in the Mill Cottage in February 2014.
Jadzia and Dave were wonderful hosts and made us feel very welcome. The cottage is in perfect condition and our hosts were kind enough to leave milk, bread and eggs (from their own chickens) in the kitchen and have the fire lighting for us.
The village of Kells is beautiful and steeped in history, a walk around the the ruined priory is a must (as is a pint in Shirleys pub).
couldn't recommend this property more.
Response from Jadzia:
Thanks again Dave was great to have you and Ann stay and hope to see you again in the future..Jadzia & Dave
This is a beautiful cottage in a lovely part of the world. Jadzia and Dave are excellent hosts.
We had an amazing time at Jadzia's cottage in Kilkenny. It is a wonderful cosy thatched cottage with beautiful gardens and surroundings, right beside the river and a few minutes walk from the ruins of Kells Priory.
Our hosts Jadzia & Dave were so lovely, friendly and welcoming and gave us delicious fresh eggs for breakfast, and showed us the 'craic' in the local pub.
We had a great weekend and will definitely be back in the summer!
We highly recommend a visit!
Seven of my closest friends and I had an amazingly peaceful stay at Jadzia's house. I couldn't recommend the house enough. It's crammed with character and decorated beautifully. Lots of space for us all and very cosy. Inis Tioge is a wonderful part of the world and the house is ideally located. Jadzia and Dave were extremely accommodating and lovely to deal with. They left food for our arrival and the house was nicely stocked with salt, pepper and other items one hopes might be in the house! Beds were very comfortable and everything besides carefully considered. I hope to be back.
We stayed at this great old house with my parents, brother and girlfriend for a few days and we really enjoyed it. It is set just above town overlooking the main square. There was plenty of room, washer and dryer, and plenty of bathrooms (one shower and one bath). The living room was cosy and where we chose to hang out at close to the fire. We cooked dinner in the well equipped kitchen and watched movies on our down time. Jadzia and her husband were very kind, welcoming and helpful, too. It would be great to return in spring or summer time to do on walks in town and in the surrounding area.
We had a wonderful stay in this lovely little cottage - what a perfect place to spend Christmas! Our only issue is that we couldn't stay any longer and spend more time with our kind, generous hosts - thanks Dave and Jadzia!
Contentment is Wealth.
If it’s contentment you want then there is no better place then Jadiza and David’s The Pottery.
Indeed we have the privilege of staying at there over Christmas and what a relaxing time it was. The description on airbnb is everything it says it is. And more.
I highly recommend staying at the cottage, spend time in the village of Inistioge and meet the local characters. The cottage was warm, comfortable and cosy. The village full of history and beautiful nature walks. And the people, well you need to meet them.
Not unlike J.R. R. Tolkien’s The Shire, a world to itself, wealthy in its contentment.
Jadiza and David have created something special at The Pottery. Be there.
If you are seeking a truly authentic taste of Ireland, past and present, this is the place for you. The cottage itself oozes old world charm yet does not compromise on comfort and convenience. Once nestled within its ‘three feet thick’ walls you will find it hard to leave as did I. Step outside the backdoor and you enter the magical sloping ‘fairytale’ garden. Lovingly nurtured by the hostess with the ‘mostess’, it is a classic example of a cottage garden with a vibrant colourful well balanced mix of wild and manicured plant life. The view from the tree swing at the top of the garden across to the ruins of Kells priory (one of the best kept secrets in Ireland) and down to the kings river mills, will stay with you long after your departure.
Your hosts Jadzia and Dave, likewise will offer a balanced approach to your needs. If you require space, peace and privacy you will be left to your own devices, on the other hand if you are up for mingling, music, food, craic or entertainment you will find all the good things in life served up in abundance and laced with quality and perfection. Dave, a renowned musician will direct you to and often play host at local gigs. You can’t beat an impromptu ‘mad jacks bar’ Sunday afternoon session!
Kells itself is located a short distance from Kilkenny city and easy access to the main M9 motorway yet walking through the magnificent ruins of the priory will instantly take you back in time.
I will end with a warning, book your arrival date but leave your departure date flexible as many the weary traveller has been ‘Kellsnapped’ by the charm of both the cottage and its hosts!
I have had the pleasure of staying with Dave and Jadzia numerous times and have to say, I look forward to going back every time..... :)
The thatched cottage has a really nice atmosphere and is decorated to a high standard, warm and comfortable. It is tasteful and there are lots of lovely curios around the place, and a huge atmospheric fireplace, Out the back the garden is overwhelming with lots of colourful plants and hidden corners around the place.
Dave and Jadzia are super hosts ( I would say that) but, wait, it is true :) Dave never misses a trick and is generous in heaping this upon you. For the record is is not bad at the di-ger-i-doo as well, and word has it he plays the guitar a wee bit too; but best of all are his vocals- which he uses to great Tom Waits effects, if you catch him in a good mood, and a hoor, if you are late for dinner. Dave is a sensitive creter too, and if he senses you wana be left to yer own devices,. he will let you alone; and probably go and play with the lorri by himself- you see dave's originally hails from Kildare (spare a thought).
The area is gift too. There is Mad Jacks pub and beautiful walks, the priory is one of Ireland's hidden gems and you are within drink driving distance of Inistoigue, Thomastown and Kilkenny, where there is plenty to see and do. But to honest, Kilkenny is such a beautiful county of trees and rivers that the drives in the area are also really nice.
Thumbs up for Jadzia and Dave- Like :)
