Sam was very helpful before and during our stay. The property was clean and well presented on arrival. The neighbourhood is quiet and it is an easy walk to the beach which was fantastic and also very quiet. Private properties back onto the beach so no lifeguard here, but there is one in central Clearwater Beach near the hotels and main shops. My husband got stung by a stingray on our last day, the trick is to shuffle into the water so you scare the rays away, we only found this out on our return home. Parking is busy by the shops and expensive by meter, we used the Jolley Trolley, a fun and cheap way to get around. The guest bedroom is a converted garage, intended for our daughter to sleep in but as the lock was not secure she decided to sleep in the main house and our son slept on the sofabed. It has been modernised to a nice standard, the kitchen is especially good but some areas still need a little finishing off, handles missing, bathroom paint peeling and as previous reviewers have said the garden needs work.
A car is handy if you want to dodge the thunderstorms. Orlando is a 2 hour drive away so Disney, Sea World etc can be reached. We stayed overnight in a hotel in Orlando when we didn't have hot water for 3 days but took the opportunity to enjoy Discovery Cove. Busch Gardens is also a short drive away.
We arrived to the worst weather Tampa had seen in 20 years which caused a lot of problems, the hot water tank split, the guest bedroom flooded and the toilet blocked due to silt. We lost at least 3 days of our holiday sorting out property issues, trying to dry out soft furnishings, communicating with Sam and waiting for electrician and plumber. We had to pay the plumber but Sam was very quick to pay us back using paypal. Nature is very active here, we also had to deal with 2 wasp nests in the porch/doorway and I am afraid to say cockroaches in the kitchen, we checked the mouse traps in the guest bedroom but only found droppings. A visit from the professional pest control company would be a good idea.
We were very unlucky in many ways but still had a very good holiday and will visit Florida again.
The house was very nice and a fabulous location. Sam had starter items like soap, paper towels, dish soap and the likes which was very nice. The beds were very comfortable and clean. The beach, only a short 2 block walk, was clean and not filled with hotels, it is a quiet residential area.
We really enjoyed our stay!
The house is in a great quiet location - the beach is only 5 minutes away (and it is a great part of the beach - not very crowded and just the right width). The restaurants and the main pier in Clearwater beach are 5-10 minutes away by car or 15-25 minutes walking.
The house had everything we needed and was clean, but it immediately feels like a rental property and not very "homey". We had a couple of minor issues during our stay and Sam was very responsive and resolved them within a day or two. He also allowed us to check in early which was great as our infant son managed to get proper afternoon sleep.
Overall, it was a nice stay but the house could use some work. There was lots of garbage in the corner of the yard near the laundry area, and some scattered parts of furniture around the rest of the yard. There was no lock on the guest house so you can't live any valuables there, there was also nowhere to put towels (no hooks or racks) in the guest house bathroom, and the lighting was lacking - no bedside lamps in any of the rooms and very dim light in the main living room and in the guest house. There was no information about the house or the area left for us, like how to sort and take out trash, what restaurants to visit etc. And most importantly it would be great to have a heads up that there will be two guys coming into our back yard on a Thursday morning to trim the lawn - my sister who was alone in the house at that time was terrified for a minute :)
All of these things are easy to remedy so I am hoping Sam can improve this for future tenants. But like I said it was a very enjoyable stay nevertheless.
The host made us feel welcome and even let us check in a bit early. Phenomenal location being walking distance to the beach and the best of the island. It was also nice to have a separate bedroom away from the main portion of the house, offering a bit more privacy.
Host allowed us to drop off some luggage early and check out later which was very helpful. Third bedroom is in a separate building which was not made very clear in the listing. Very good location close to a quiet beach and in a great neighborhood. Major problem was disposal of the massive amount of trash left by the previous renter which was not all emptied until Thursday or 5 days after we arrived. There are many cosmetic changes that could improve the appearance, function and security of this property. Example: A lock is badly needed on the bonus room door along with handles and back yard lights do not work.
Perfect location away from the numerous hotels and motels. The beach nearby is awesome. The house is spacious with all the essentials. We had a pleasant stay and the owner was responsive. It's not fancy, but it's comfortable.
Sam was very accommodating for one of our party who was coming in early, and was always very responsive which led to a positive feeling going into the stay. Super close to the beach and easy to get to the strip - GREAT location.
Very clean as well - no bugs, comfortable beds, lots of towels, etc.
Great house, great location. Clean and fun, would definitely do it again!!
This is the perfect location on Clearwater beach. Less than a 10 minute walk to the beach. The neighborhood is very quiet, it was wonderful. There were four of us and the house was the perfect size for us.
The reservation was canceled 60 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
