Ciao, mi chiamo Alessandra ed insieme a Gabriele proviamo ad accompagnarvi alla scoperta della Costiera Amalfitana.....(website hidden)
We cannot recommend renting from Alessandra.
In an email prior to booking, Alessandra assured us that the apartment was heated - it was not. (This was for a December-January rental.) There was only a small space heater for a large (50m2) apartment with three separate rooms, and that obviously isn't enough. We were freezing and were miserable. Alessandra's boyfriend tried to help us by offering another small space heater, but having both on at the same time blew the electricity in the apartment.
Alessandra was not honest to us in her email regarding the heating. We have asked for a modest refund of less than one night, and Alessandra has not responded to our request - sent almost three weeks ago.
We have tried to use AirBnB's resolution procedures, but Alessandra is not even responding to the AirBnB client service....!
If she finally responds to us, we would be happy to give a positive evaluation of the apartment in its other respects, but at this point, it really seems like Alessandra is not someone to do business with.
Shu Shu's house is in Atrani, a very small village just a 10 minute walk from the bustling Amalfi. This makes it ideal to stay in an authentic community while having easy access to all the features of Amalfi.
Best of all is the warm hospitality of Alessandra and Gabriele. They went out of their way to welcome us and were delightful hosts. We consider them friends and hope they will visit us here! So if you are looking for a personable experience, with connection to real people and not just a place to stay, this is the place!
Alessandra and her boyfriend, Gabriele, were super friendly, accommodating and generous hosts. They met us when we get off the bus, at 10:30pm in the rain! Gabriele insisted on carrying our luggage for us! The apt. is only a few minutes walk from the main square in Atrani - it really is a great location. They had a bottle of wine waiting for us in the apt., and told us to help ourselves to any of the food in the kitchen (staples like juice, bottled water and pasta were provided for us). The kitchen was very clean - everything feels new and is decorated very modern (mainly from Ikea). The apt. itself is quite utilitarian - clean with everything you need. Alessandra runs a whimsical boutique in the village of Amalfi (a 10 min. walk from Atrani). We stopped by to say hello - near closing, and she and her boyfriend insisted on sharing drinks with them in the piazza in Amalfi. They even introduced us to a wonderful restaurant in Amalfi, "Da Maria Trattoria e Pizzeria" where we received the "friend" discount because of them. It was super yummy, (the fresh octopus melts in your mouth!) With Alessandra and Gabrielle are much more than nice 'landlords', they really make you feel like you are visiting friends - they are so personable and charming. Gabrielle also publishes travel books about the Amalfi Coast, so he is a treasure of knowledge about the best places to visit. Some of our favorite adventures were taking a bus to Sorrento, and then a ferry to Capri - where we took another bus to Anacapri, and then a gondola to the top of the island. On another day, we hiked the 'Path of the Gods' - which has one of the most spectacular views in the world. Atrani is a sleepy little village by the sea, where there are barely any tourists (unlike its bustling neighbor, Amalfi). There are donkeys carrying construction materials up and down the maze of narrow stairs - just like they probably did hundreds of years ago. There are old men who are sweeping the piazza in the early morning. You really feel as though you have stepped back into time. I also want to highly recommend Le Palme Restaurant - the owner, Salvatore is always friendly and welcoming - and even called Alessandra for us when we arrived - to let her know we were there - and the food is delicious! The gnocchi was my favorite.
The apt was clean and cozy - we enjoyed the views and easy access to the Atrani beach .Gabriel (Alessandra's better half) was very helpful , got us settled, parking and oriented to the area which is so valuable when you arrive tired not knowing your way around. They were accessible during the stay and answered any questions we had on the apt or area. A perfect host - we would stay there again and recommend highl.
Atrani, in Alessandra and Gabrielle's apartment, was our second stop in Italy after Napoli. We really enjoy our stay in their great apartment. Really comfortable, clean and well located, even if not in Amalfi (it takes only 5 minutes walk to go there). Atrani is a charming place to stay, the people there are very nice. Gabrielle was super and help us for the parking. I really like the fruits and vegetables shop close to the apartment and the fish restaurant too. We would return to Casa di Sciù Sciù any time. Anecdote : I loved the shower in the apartment... Thanks to Gabrielle again.
The place is great. The location is great. Alessandra and Gabriele are very warm and pleasant people. It was so easy to find and contact them. If you just want to relax, swim and eat wonderful food (don't we all), then this is the ideal spot.
If you are lucky enough to make your way to Amalfi, this is the place to stay! Beyond the views and the friendly locals, Alessandra's place is perfect to call home.
The location is shared with Piazza Umberto which has several business and restaurants and welcomes everyone as if they are family and supplies everything you would need without all the tourists trappings of the bigger towns.
Alessandra also has a shop in Amalfi with beautiful products from local artists. We found wonderful, unique souvenirs to take home as well as enjoying meeting her.
We also took advantage of the local market and the well supplied kitchen and made dinner in the home one night, eating on the terrace with a great bottle of wine.
Everyone should be so lucky to get the same opportunity as we did!
Alessandra was a great and friendly host. His boyfriend was also so nice to pick us up from Amalfi town. We enjoyed our stay in their place.
Staying in Atrani was wonderful, and Gabrielle and Alessandra were a pleasure to meet. The town is only 10 minutes walk away from Amalfi but a lot less touristy which we loved. The house is cosy, fresh and clean, and had all the cooking/eating equipment we needed. All the locals are lovely, and the supermarket and main square with restaurants are close by. During our stay we also walked to Ravello through the mountain- quite steep but a beautiful walk. Would not hesitate to stay here again.
We stayed in Atrani for three nights in October. Alessandra and her partner Gabriele were so helpful both before and during our stay - there were even a bottle of wine waiting for us when we arrived at the flat.
Atrani is a short walk from Amalfi where there are lots of restaurants, shops and a beach. In Atrani itself, there are a couple of restaurants and shops - it's a pretty quiet town, and in contrast to many other places on the Amalfi Coast, tourists are massively outnumbered by locals in Atrani, which was nice for a change. There is also a small beach there.
The flat is clean and charming - I would definitely recommend it.
it was a pleasure from start to finish. Alessandra was very quick and efficient responding and coordinating her arrival details etc. On arrival day she followed perfectly all instructions given. Everyone was very educated, friendly, punctual, orderly and very agreeable people to meet at check-in and upon departure. i would recommend her as a guest without any hesitation!
Five stars for Alessandra & Friends
