The house had all facilities as listed and was in a covenient location close to public transport. Although we didn't see a lot of Alan, he provided us with pamphlets & bus timetables for our stay.
Hi Alan! Thanks for letting me stay for such a long time. You were a great host, and I was very pleased that everything was so uncomplicated. Overall I had a fantastic time and would definitely recommend your listing.
- Nice room with big bed
- Personal fridge in the room
- Kitchen, toilet and shower
- Good public transportation with nearby busstop and frequent busses (Monday-Friday every 10 min, Saturday every 20 min, Sunday every 30 min)
- The center of Hobart city is a little far away and not reasonably reachable by foot. But there is good public transportation, so it's not all that bad.
Alan is a quietly courteous guy with with strong vegan principles which I respect.
I stayed for eight nights but did not see a great deal of Alan as I was away everyday travelling around Tas. with my daughter, who lives in Hobart. When I did need any advice Alan was very helpful and informative.
The bedroom was simply furnished and very clean and comfortable, perfectly suited to my needs.
Tiger Den is well located and near facilities in Moonah. There is a regular bus service into Hobart which came in handy.
Alan's description of what he has to offer is spot on and so met my expectations. i think he offers excellent value for money and a peaceful place to stop.
Nice house ,easy to go to city...the room have a large balcony,we had breakfast there every morning.always have hot water
The room was as per what it is shown in the photo. Alan was very accommodating with the time of arrival as i was out the whole day and not sure what time I will be arriving. Was good to know that no meat, or fish products was allowed in the house, before I went to get some food from the super market. Alan is a very interesting guy. ll the best with the elections.
Alan is a wonderful host and a good person who believes in healthy eating and living. He provides useful information about places to visit in Hobart and elsewhere in Tasmania, including the lesser known attractions as well as nature trails such as those at Mount Wellington and Myrtle Forest. If you like to discuss views on nature and the environment, which I do, Alan's the right person for that. Tasmanian Tigers are one of his passions (hence Tiger Den)!
The location of the house is convenient, being situated just outside of Hobart town, and is easily accessible by public bus. A day rider ticket at $3.20 takes you anywhere with unlimited rides a day - so forget the car! Just have to watch the bus timetables though! The brochures at home are handy if you wish to know where else to visit and how to get there.
The single bed is comfy though a tad narrow but there are lots of warm sheets plus room and cupboard spaces are adequate. Winter chill isn't a problem in the house as there is adequate heating with a fireplace and electric heater too, topped up by an electric blanket.
The room has beautiful paintings to look at as well, including a hand-painted picture of Tasmanian Tigers!
There are cafes, bottle shop and gas station nearby in Moonah, so it is a sensible place to stay to enjoy Hobart inner city and beyond. And the mountain view is stunning from Creek Road.
It is a homely place, and Alan is an inspiring vegan chef who likes sharing his knowledge about food preparation, hence I recommend Tiger Den for your stay.
Alan's place was comfortable and well-positioned. Alan was an accommodating host. Recommended for anyone who wants to take it easy
I had a short but comfortable stay at Alan's place in March 2014, to attend a conference in the Moonah area. The host is very respectful of privacy and he keeps a neat and tidy home. He provides lots of useful info about Hobart and surrounds, including bus schedules with maps enclosed, which I found very handy. I can highly recommend Alan's place.
This is a very nice room with a comfortable bed. We enjoyed having breakfast on the balcony. Also appreciated the books and brochures on travelling in Tasmania, historic houses, birds and hiking. Alan inspired us in making more foods from scratch. Moonah is further out of town, but within easy driving distance. There are several restaurants nearby and there is plenty of shopping.
We stayed with Alan for 4 nights, The apartment is very nice and clean and the comfy room has a huge balcony. The apartment is perfectly located between the MONA and the city. Communication with Alan was easy, we really enjoyed our stay!
This is our second review for Alan as we were lucky enough to have him for 2 weeks. Nice guy, great guest and amazing chef!
Alan was a great guest and even better cook!! Nice guy, clean, pleasant and great person to have around the house
Alan was a wonderful guest! He was quiet, polite, and generous-he even gave us a bike (now we have an extra for our other guests!). We'd definitely have Alan back.
Alan was a great guest! It was a pleasure hosting him at the Villa! He is a perfect example of a model guest! Very clean and respectful of the space! I highly recommend :) 5 stars!
nice easy going people, even if I leave in another Country we had no problem organising their stay at my place.
Alan was a great guest and I would be happy to have him stay again.
