The cabin is alright for its price. What we were quite disappointed about was the lack of lake access because the dock was out of the water, which we found out about this a few days before our trip when I inquired about directions to the place.
Without the dock the lake is accessible from the shore but it's pretty shallow and weedy so fishing and swimming conditions were not good.
The cabin is in decent shape, again, the price makes the condition acceptable.
The general location of the cabin is great, so it's a good place if you are looking for a cheap place to take trips to the south shore, Apostle Islands etc from.
There was no dock or easy access to lake, but cabin was nice for the money. Bugs were bad outside but that is part of camping. TV gets no stations and it would be nice if it was updated to put a DVD player on it. Over all we had a good time in the area.
Its a nice clean cabin that was well furnished. A good private get away. The only thing i would have improved was the heating situation. The furnace was not turned on yet, but we were told the space heaters would make it comfortable, they worked mediocre at best. We had to use the many blankets they provided which helped. Also, we tried to attach a DVD player to the tv and that didn't work. Besides that, we really did enjoy our short stay. We'll definitely come back, but will make sure there's a improvement on heating or visit in the summer. Thanks again.
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time at Marie's cabin in Iron River, Wisconsin. We loved the surroundings, its proximity to the lake, and the wealth of activities that were just a short drive away. The cabin itself was endearingly retro, and fully stocked with everything we needed. Absolutely fantastic!
Marie was very friendly and easy to get a hold of. She also responded promptly to e-mails. Shelley, the caretaker, stopped by during our visit to make sure we made it to Iron River safely, and ask how we were enjoying our stay. We appreciated the personal connection.
Have already been recommending the cabin to friends, and would stay again without a moment's hesitation!
