Living in Paris, from the US
We had a great time. Thanks Shawn and Mark. The appartment is small but has everything you need. The location is about as good as it gets.
Très chouette appartement au cœur du Marais, lumineux, très calme et plutôt vaste pour Paris
Les commodités sont bien pratiques.
Lovely apartment in a great location. We were met promptly when we arrived and shown where to find everything once in the apartment. Shawn had lots of books on Paris which were very helpful for our stay! Would recommend for a couple or group of friends looking for somewhere to stay in Paris, would definitely book again!
Wonderful apartment and super easy to check in. Thank you
As a host, Shawn was very responsive and extremely helpful from the moment I have contacted him to rent the place.
The flat was very well located, at the heath of Marais, but at the same time cozy and calm.
Everything was above expectations and the whole experience was smooth.
I would like to thank a lot to Shawn for his hospitality.
Pretty decent. Clean sheets and towels. Ok shampoo. Tiny soap bar but can do if you don t expect 4 star hotel shower gel. Good value for the 3 of us. Could easily take 4 as the sofa set is convertible. Not much of view from the windows. Nonetheless good to open them for some cool breeze.
Toilet was... ahem... very squeezy. I am fairly big and it was a pain to wipe my ass! But well, I managed. Shower area was just slightly better. At least bigger than those found on cruise ships! Hot water. Good water pressure. Fridge not so cold. Perhaps I did not adjust. Anyway, it did not matter... just once i wanted an ice cold orangina.
Did not cook but there are utensils. Can drink tap water which i did. Nothing bad happened. The kettle is a bit old and there are some residuals stuffs after boiling water. I think that should be fine though.
There is a TV and music player and some CDs and some books. Did not really try the TV as wifi was strong enough to watch movies on my tablet from the internet. Also managed to stream my music from my personal Synology NAS.
Small improvements. Provide a small rug for the cooking area as it can get a bit wet. Should also check the temperature of the fridge. Guess nothing can be done about the toilet size and I suppose having an automated washer would just be unheard of in such kind of setting.
The location is very good. If you are into walking and you should be, you can walk to the Louvre along the main road and enjoying the numerous shops and eateries. Then head back along the river towards the Notre Dame. Then onwards to the Pantheon and Paris university. Walking the other way, you can head to the Bastille and a nearby Aigre market where you can get a good selection of cheese and salami. Was however quiet on a Wednesday morning.
Overall good value if you are 3 or 4. Check in was a bit unplanned but ended up ok. The train that we were taking was delayed big time. Did not really know that i could take another route. Mary was not there but luckily another colleagues were in the building handling other apartments.
Checked out around 1030 by just leaving the 2 sets of keys on the table.
Toilet and shower: 3
We had a good time...the location of the flat is great and the interior is nice too. would recommend
We had a great stay in Shawn's apartment, which is nicely renovated and features all the necessary amenities, even including a wide range of condiments for cooking!
The apartment is perfectly located in the heart of the trendy Marais area, just a couple of minutes from St Paul Metro station.
Shawn is a superb host!
Lovely, sun drenched appartment looking onto the Paris rooftops. The real draw is the area - I absolutely adore the marais having lived here as a student and renting out this place made me feel like I was living here again not just visiting. That for me was the highlight.
The place is bijou - but definitely not small for Paris - and you get real value per sq ft compared to hotel rates in central Paris, so I'd consider it extremely good value.
We also loved having a lounge - you'd obviously have to get a suite for this in a hotel which would be big bucks in Paris. Hubbie loved the fact he could watch the rugby in the afternoon!
I thought the space was very well designed, contains everything you need, and there was plenty of space to put things away etc
I'd echo the comments on the staircase - but this is quite common across many appartment blocks in Paris. You don't spend much time on the stairs after all!
The only slightly question mark I'd have is I found it hard to get in touch with the keyholder upon arrival and check out and noone returned my messages upon leaving. Perhaps this is an Air BnB thing - but it would make me cautious of using it for business when you need a more seamless service, whereas when travelling pleasure you have the time to go with the flow a bit more.
All in all a great experience, would definitely recommend.
Perhaps the only real downside is staying in an appartment on the same street as a Maje and a Pinko and a stone's throw from loads of other wonderful boutiques - retail danger! £££
Shawn's apartment is perfect. The location is the main thing. The street that it is located on has all of your needs from food to wine. The apartment itself has all you need. I would stay there again.
Shawn was nice, very easy to communicate, would love to have him again.
An excellent guest: reliable, accurate, polite :), the apartment was left intact and clean.
