Great place in a great neighborhood. Conway wasn't at home so I can't say anything about him. Communication by email was friendly and fast, though. I had no problems to find the house and keys. Very charming house and nice guest room. Drawback: the place wasn't very tidy. But for one night it was acceptable.
Our stay at Conway's place was mixed. It seemed as if the apartment had not been cleaned prior to our arrival; there was a lot of dog hair everywhere, the garbage cans in the bathrooms and kitchens were full, and the floors were dirty. Almost every window and blind was closed, so the bathrooms definitely smelled from lack of ventilation. Also the bathroom towels smelled- when I finally washed two, I was pleasantly surprised! It's hard to imagine he would not have cleaned his apartment at all, but then something worse happened. He had told us we would have the apartment to ourselves, and he lowered his rate for us, which was generous, but I still paid $1280 for 9 days, which is kind of a lot! So the second morning we were there, my daughter and I were up in the morning, having breakfast in our pajamas, when I heard a sound like dogs moving around. We both were surprised and wondered where the sound could be coming from. I opened the office door next to the kitchen, and was shocked to see a man in there! I closed the door speechless! Then he came out, with his two dogs, acting like it was perfectly normal that he had just stayed the night on the floor of his office with his dogs, without asking or telling me! Then he proceeded to hang around the apartment all day with his dogs, saying he needed to pack, and playing loud music until I finally asked him to leave at 2 so my daughter and I could take a nap! I found this really surprising behavior, especially since there was no communication, and I had paid what is more than a month's rent in much of Chicago!
The good parts were that he never came back after that day; the location is great- right near the division stop on the blue line, and down the block from the lovely public pool (we were there every day!). As I said, the host is moving, so I'm not sure how many people will read this, but I sure hope he cleans up his act, if he wants to keep hosting. I don't think you have to be dirty to be hip! And spending the night surreptitiously is just wrong!
A lovely room in a great location. Conway's place is clean, comfortable, and convenient. The apartment is in walking distance to Wicker Park and we found free parking (there's a pay lot nearby, too). Working with Conway on the reservation and the stay was super easy. Conway is friendly and so nice to deal with. Thanks again for a great trip, Conway!
Good location. Decent place to stay. Didn't get a chance to meet host in person but our stay was brief and at odd hours and he was able to accommodate.
My friends and I really enjoyed our stay at Hip Habitat. Since we rented two rooms, we had the whole appartment to ourselves. Conway dropped in a few times and was friendly and welcoming. The appartment is very spacious and fully equiped. Conway's art gives it a lot of character! It is also well situated, just a few blocks from the blue line which gets you down town in 20 minutes. All in all it was a great experience in a wonderfull city. Especially considering I had to book less than a week before since my other reservation was cancelled last minute.
Hip Hapitat was in the perfect location for my husband and I. Close to the train, close to a park, close to good coffee and lots of places to eat....
Not the cleanliest of spaces, at all. But we weren't there to hang out in the house, just sleep. Which we did just fine!
He had vergotten, that we arrived that day.We waited 4hours in front of the door.
For sombody who expect somthing to by clean and quiet, this place would not be the right place.
Stayed in June 2012 for 1 week
Overall the place is in a decent location relative to the subway (really it's on the boarder of wicker park) and a real nice host in Conway. However, definitely there was no cleaning service prior (or during) our arrival, this may have been because he had an emergency to take care of so hopefully it's just a one off, but both the bedroom and washroom were unclean. Also, the water pressure in the showers really low, and goes off if anyone else in the building is using it. Conway was very flexible with arrangements and willing to offer suggestions, so if you want a place that comes with a good host this is for you. But if you're looking for clean and comfortable place, I'd suggest to shop around.
Conway and Julia were the most gracious host during my stay. Very interesting couple who were nice and laid back. Sorta seemed like they were from Calif. Cute house with 2 well behaved dogs in a up and coming neighborhood. Two great sushi houses within 2 blocks. Also don't miss the "Alliance Bakery" (I think that was the name) Great beautiful and tasty muffins rolls scones and super deserts. Quick train ride into the loop via the Blue line 2 blocks from Conway's house.
Great hosts, great house, great location!
Great guests - friendly, courteous & clean. I enjoyed having the dogs here - they were clean & well-behaved too :-) They would be welcome here again.
Dr. Conway was an excellent guest. Being an AirBnb guest himself, he knows exactly how to follow house rules. He left his space spotless and was very polite. Would have him again anytime.
•Conway was a great guest who took very good care of our room. He brought two dogs that looked like they were shedding dogs but we did not see any evidence of them being in our apartment. Would love to have them again.
Conway was a difficult guest. he asked for permission to bring two dogs along which was given even though he admitted that one was not crate trained. he was not charged for them. he complained about the sheets which were changed promptly. and after receiving kind consideration and prompt attention and a good price he was still unsatisfied, grumpy and nastily gave a bad review which, in my opinion was unwaranted. if you want a good review from him i suggest that you make sure to have a five star accomodation at a one star price and room for two dogs.
Fine, friendly & easy to please.
Would be happy to host them again.
Conway, his fiancee and their two dogs were lovely guests. Even though the dogs are medium sized, none of my other guests knew they were here. Interesting conversation and bright energy make Conway and Jo wonderful guests. His interviews went well and I hope they move nearby!
Conway and Jo were great guests. They were very clear with their travel plans. And very neat and clean with the apartment. They were very busy, but it was great to get to see them for a little. We'd definitely have them back.
Conway and his travel companion, Jo, were interesting, high-energy people. They were mostly out on the town, so we didn't get to know them much. Our brief exchange was really nice. They were great guests and we'd be glad to have them back again anytime.
Conway was an enjoyable and easy going. He is also an airbnb host and knows how to be the perfect guest!
Conway and his partners were excellent guests. I am only sorry that I could not persuade them to move to Binghamton. This Renaissance Man is just what we need here. I wish them both luck in their futures.
