An upcoming intreprenuer with vast interests in the travel and tourism industry.
My wife and I and our 3 year old son booked a 7 night stay at Mohlware Lodge. We were looking for 3 star accommodation with 2 rooms so our son could sleep in 1 room and us in the other. On arrival we were shown a 2 bedroom cottage but asked for another room as it was smelling stale with cigarette smoke. We waited for over an hour while the chap at reception tried to find the key to the room. Eventually the key surfaced,.The room was not what we wanted as it had only 1 bed but we decided to take it as it at least smelt clean and there was no other option. We very quickly realised that the room's toilet leaked and there was no hot water.
We reported it to reception immediately. For the first 5 days of our stay we only had hot water on 1 night. We made great efforts to complain but nothing was done. We asked to speak to the manager but we had to assume that there was no manager because he never appeared. I must also add that it was the middle of winter, there was no heater in the room and we froze. The Kiddy slide in the garden was stained with bird and rabbit faeces and was not cleaned even once during our stay. Our room was not cleaned at all either during our stay. By day 5 my wife and I gave up and checked out even though we had paid for our stay in advance in full. We found another BnB a few km's away and had our first good nights rest with hot water, a working toilet and all the amenities you would expect from a 3 star BnB. Mohlware Lodge was unacceptable, unhygienic had no clue how to service it's guests. The front desk was hardly ever manned and we did not even sign a quest registry or fill in any paperwork when we checked in. The glass on the vanity table was also broken, so my wife reported it so that we will not be held responsible. It turned out the staff were aware of it, but decided to cover it up with a little cloth - the excuse being "we are waiting for the manager"
