Good day Im 29 year guy living in Iceland and done so for all my live. hoping to become a tour guide soon =)
This place is the best! The place is clean, in a great location, and Birgir will help you get started by giving you some great tips on how the city works and what tours are good if you want to do outdoors stuff. Seriously, this place was awesome.
Birgir was a great host and very helpful in every way. His apt is in a perfect location, easily accessible to all parts of the city that a tourist needs to go. The apt itself is also very clean, cozy and spacious. My friend and I really enjoyed our stay at Birgir's and it was our pleasure meeting Birgir too! Will definitely come back to him if we are in Reykjavik again!
Birgir was very helpful and a great host. I can't recommend staying with him enough!
The place is also fantastic. It's a perfect location (really close to the main center but a block back so not too noisy). And the apartment itself was great.
Definitely recommend staying with Birgir if you are heading to Reykjavik.
Location was perfect! We could walk to Laugavegur in two minutes and to the Harbour in five. Also the grocery store across the street was convenient (although not it's operating hours!).
Apartment was very comfortable and provided more than enough space for the two of us, especially the large bathroom and the kitchen - so much more space than a traditional hotel room. Our only complaint is the small shower. Everything else was great!
Birgir's apartment couldn't have been more perfect for our 6 days in Iceland. It is perfectly located off the main street and across from a great supermarket. It's also incredibly comfortable and clean with plenty of space and great bonus features like free wifi and laundry. Birgir was the perfect host - he is extremely generous (lent us extra gloves and ear warmers when we didn't have enough) and respectful. He is a great city guide with excellent suggestions of things to do around Reykjavik and Iceland. I couldn't have asked for better accommodations - the apartment is ideal.
The best thing about Birgir's place is definitely the location. It's pretty much in the centre of town (but in a very quiet nook!), and you can pretty much walk to anywhere! Birgir was an excellent host and we really enjoyed our stay in Reykjavik. Would definitely recommend - it's clean, large and comfortable. You can't go wrong!
Birgir's apartment was everything on the website listing and more. His apartment location is perfect for everything: bus stations, bars, hotels (important for tour bus pickup), restaurants, grocery store. He is two blocks from the main strip of Rekjavik's nightlife, and yet his apartment is warm, cozy, and quiet. And it's beautiful. He has a really good eye for design and he loves to cook...the meat soup he leaves in the fridge rocks...so the kitchen is very user friendly. The bed is very comfy and has the electric blanket and even warmed flooring. Wifi is fast, computer and TV setup easy to use. He had a home phone, but I keep a cell phone during travels, so I didn't use it much. We just texted. And he's a great host! We hung out in town a few times as well, since he knows all the great bars and nightclubs. You feel like he is always available for help with anything. Without a doubt, when I return to Iceland, I will be staying at Birgir's place again!
Birgir's place was lovely... and couldn't imagine a better location. Steps away from restaurants, bars, shopping, the harbor, and several of the main base points for tour drop-offs. The space was also very nice and well-outfitted (including coming with Birgir's homemade meat soup... which was better than any I had elsewhere!)
Birgir was also an attentive host, and when we had some minor trouble while in Iceland, he was quick to assist us to make sure our stay went smoothly, and even took us out for a night in Reykjavik. Overall, a great experience, would highly recommend.
This was our first airbnb experience and if this is the benchmark then we will definitely be using the service again soon. Birgir was a fantastic host and was very accommodating even though we had travel issues (didn't arrive until 2am our first night). He went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and even had meat soup prepared.
The house has some quirks but its a house and not a hotel room. However, these were only tiny things not worth mentioning. The place was clean, spacious, had fast internet, and was very convenient to downtown.
The heating worked well and there was plenty of hot water. The area was safe and quiet. Its tucked away from the main street.
We had a great experience and definitely recommend for solo travellers or couples.
We had a fantastic stay at Birgir's place and highly recommend it for anyone else interested in renting an apartment in the heart of Reykjavik. The place looks just as pictured, no surprises there. From Birgir's you can walk to nearly every city destination, as well as local gems like bookstores, bakeries, the harbor, and oodles of restaurants and bars. He went out of his way to help us acclimate to Iceland, even assembling a playlist of local music, leaving some meat soup in the fridge, and walking us around town to give us the backstory on the area. We rented a car, which is by far the easiest means of getting around the island/city, so can’t speak to public transportation. Birgir gets two thumbs up from us!
Happy and courteous, these are the two main things you notice when you meet Birgir. Apart from loading us down with handfuls of Icelandic candies, he took care of the apartment and rental bicycle very well. We are very happy to have met him and look forward to having him stay with us again in the future. We would highly recommend him as a guest. He' bring a smile, keep things clean and quiet, and possibly fill you up with loads of candy!!!
