I booked Jonathan's apartment for a New Year's Eve trip while he was out of town. There were so many other places listed on AirBnB as available that were not actually available for the holiday. Jonathan's was my 5th try - and when he raised the rates for the stay, I took it anyway. It was getting close to the trip and this apartment sufficed.
The apartment has an awesome location in West Campus, near great coffee shops and restaurants. It's also very close to the bus stop which I used while I was there.
Jonathan checked in on me often via text and was very professional, which I appreciated.
I was somewhat disappointed that the apartment wasn't cleaned before my arrival; it was not tidy and I had to finish drying the damp sheets in the dryer and put them on the bed myself. He also asked me to check out an hour earlier than I had planned - someone else was checking in. I cleaned up after myself, but there should have been a once-through between tenants.
This place is similar to crashing at an old friend from high school's place - you don't mind pitching in a little work, there's nothing to snack on and you make due with the uncomfortable bed and thin walls. Nothing horrible by any means, but that's what you should expect.
A great bonus was the giant Seth Godin anthology on the coffee table. I'm a Godin fan, so it was fun to flip through. I would also recommend eating at Conan's Pizza, just a short walk down the alley.
Courteous, attentive host. Accommodation was clean, warm and comfortable. Gym on site as well which is always handy. Big thumbs up.
Jonathan is a wonderful host. He is very flexible, helpful and welcoming. The place is clean, safe. convenient (the bus stop, Torchy's and donut shop are literally just steps away). Location is great as it is only 10-15 mins from downtown by bus ($1/trip or $2/day pass), making attending SXSW very easy. Thanks Jonathan!
Johnny is a great host and his apartment is the perfect base for SXSW Festival or anything else in Austin - there's a bus almost right at the door that takes you downtown in only about 20 minutes for just a buck.
All the bedroom was perfectly clean and the fridge was full of food, and there was even some beer !
If you're coming to Austin for work, vacation or anything else, it's the perfect place for you :)
Jonathan was a great guest and I enjoyed meeting and chatting with him.. Communication was timely and considerate and that allowed a smooth and uneventful stay. I can recommend him as a guest and he is welcome back anytime in the future.
I never got a chance to meet Jonathan. Although, it was very easy to interact with Jonathan and he didn't need much help from me. He left the room very clean as well. I would definitely recommend him.
