Love to live in paradise!!
Sonia was an amazing host and a dream to work with. She arranged for a group of people attending my wedding to stay at Vida Silvestre and also helped organize a small poolside cocktail party. The whole experience was outstanding. The villas were clean, well kept, and the property was well maintained. I would stay there in a heartbeat.
Loved the Villa. Sonia and Oscar very helpful and so nice made you feel like family.
Would recommend it to everyone. We will be returning.
This is a true find. Exotic tucked away location. A beautiful private villa with a pool and lush grounds. Right across the beach, parking and a very attentive staff. The perfect Tulum experience.
This place is absolutely beautiful; the design of the house is light and airy - and even though there is no A/C (a common thing in tulum) the house breathes on its on with all the windows and open spaces. Sonia is a perfect host - out of the way but easy to access during the day.
You are only a short walk to Dos Ceibas - a few steps across the road. This is a great beach hotel - simple breakfast, lunch, and dinner and a relaxed beach setting that feels more local than touristy.
-Sonia has bikes available on the property for guests to use
-There are beach towels + towels provided with the space
-No shampoo or bath products are provided
-Maid comes once a day
Sonia is a wonderful host. Before and during our stay, Sonia always responded quickly to e-mails and communicated wonderfully. Sonia gave us tips on things to do in and around Tulum.
Vida Silvestre is a really cool looking complex of (I think) 5 villas at the end of the beach road. We stayed in #4. While we generally enjoyed the area, there are some comments and criticisms we feel are necessary to share.
We were uncomfortably hot during our stay (April 5-8, 2014). There is of course no A/C, and the floor fans provided barely helped. There was no ceiling fan like in the pictures. We lifted the blinds to let a breeze come in at night, but that did not help. While the villa seems secluded in the photos, it isn't really. I was awoken early in the morning to the noise of street traffic. It was difficult to relax and get rest at night because of the heat and noise. Since there are no glass windows, all the noise outside comes in. Bring earplugs.
The grounds are okay, but not very charming or inspiring...very basic landscaping. The pool is a little dirty. The kitchen was very small and not well equipped. My boyfriend wrangled with a cheap can opener for about 15 minutes. All the knives were dull and had rust. One cutting board provided had black dirt/stains embedded on it. One nonstick pot was so scratched and damaged it looked unsafe to use. Sink drained very slowly. Weird rust stains in bathrooms. Very few towels provided--two bath towels and two beach towels. Beach towels were small bath towels with stains. Photos were taken. Hardly any warm water, but it was okay because we were so hot we needed to get cooled down. We were there for three nights but only had cleaning service once because there is no service on Sundays...and we only had the 2 beach towels and 2 bathroom towels. This is inconvenient for example if you do multiple beach, cenote, pool activities in one day where you would like a fresh, dry towel. There were bikes to use, but only large men's bikes--they need to invest in some inexpensive bikes for women if they want to provide this amenity for all their guests. The beach club across the street was just okay and there was garbage in the water.
It is funny to read Vida Silvestre's website. It is not "luxury", the floors are not "polished", it did not feel "private" due to needing to keep the shades up hoping for some breeze when others are walking around outside, and what "latest environmental design features"? The shortcomings would have possibly been okay if we paid a budget price, but it was $220/night, the most expensive place we stayed in during our trip. The starting price was $160, but for two people it is $220. This was too high of a price for the discomfort and inconvenience--so sad as I really wanted to love it.
I had a Great Time at Vida Silvestre, enjoyed a Lot the wonderful white Beach just across the street. The houses are very Open, only with Moskito nets and curtains, so there is a fresh breeze going. At Night time this Is quite a noise, but no Problem when using earplugs.
My House was a Little rundown and Not the newest any more. Same with the Pool (which i enjoyed using anyway). Oven wasn't working, next Time i personally wouldnt Book a room with a kitchen again because i guess this attracts the "Little visitors" more than having no kitchen. Sleeping upstairs is ok thanks to the mosquito net.
Great help and very lovely was Oscar who is the "housekeeper" and lives on the property!!
We had an amazing stay at Vida Silvestre! We stayed in House #3 and although all 4 houses were occupied we did not see of feel anyone's presence! It was very quiet and peaceful and in the best area of Tulum (South side). The beach access is across the street which actually ended up being the most beautiful / secluded beach we found in Tulum! Sonia is a great host and was always available either on site or via email. She provided helpful recommendations on the area and places to visit. Highly recommended!
Had such a wonderful stay at vida silvestre. Loved having a kitchen and pool, the size was perfect for two but could easily accommodate more people. The beach was perfect and right across the street. Even though all 5 villas were occupied we felt like it was totally private you barely saw anyone. Definitely would book again possibly with more people. Sonia and Oscar were both very helpful and friendly
Ridiculously romantic place. Easy access to the beach and next door to Mama Muu's (get the namesake drink and stop by for the grilled pineapple at the end of your night). Electricity here is precious (just like anywhere else) so people who need a hair dryer should look elsewhere or plan on going without.
Tulum is beautiful and so is villa silvestre. We had a lovely stay. Only downside is that the shower and taps have seawater. Otherwise very happy with our stay.
