I've been successfully hosting via Airbnb for around 2 years and love the experience. Even before that I have hosted many overseas visitors and international students.
When I travel, I enjoy a nice hotel although the best experiences are staying with people - learning how they live in their community and being introduced to experiences the usual tourist wouldn't have.
I work at home in my own business, and lead a busy lifestyle that includes yoga, riding my motor scooter, entertaining friends, going to the cinema, making jewellery, hosting house-guests and lots more. I'm fortunate to live in a lovely apartment with many services nearby, and I'm happy to share it with travellers who know how to fit in and respect my place.
My mottos are "Around the World in 80 Years"...and also "Tread lightly on our planet". I am especially keen on the "pay it forward" philosophy, where I help someone and then they help someone else.
I'm learning to speak some Italian so I can enjoy my next trip to Italy even more. At this time Florence is my favourite city and I can't wait return. The art and architecture there is magnificent and I met very friendly people there.
Please note that I usually need at least 2 days' notice and would prefer you have a profile that tells me something about you - or add some details to your request about where you are coming from and for what purpose. AirBNB is built on relationships so I think this is good manners when you are asking to share a person's home. Thanks.
[Note that references from guests prior to October 2013 refer to my previous apartment that was closer to the city centre. The best public transport from my new place is by bus, not Citycat or ferry as mentioned in some reviews.]
