Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Patricia has lived and worked at Patchwork Farm in Westhampton, MA since 1977. She has led creative writing retreats at Patchwork Farm Retreat and internationally for over 20 years. A small business owner and trail-walker, she celebrates our relationship to the earth as sacred, to writing as a way of finding what is deepest within us, and to teaching writing as a participatory, supportive endeavor. She is especially glad to meet other writers, artists and lovers of the natural world.
Patricia holds an MFA degree in Creative Writing from Vermont College, and completed her undergraduate degree at Smith College, Phi Beta Kappa, in 1970. She is an award-winning poet, and has spent much of her life as an advocate: for women, for civil rights, for peace, for a healthy environment, for small farms and rural communities, for the arts. She is happiest when sharing the wonders of Patchwork Farm Retreat with others.
Presently, the special places at Patchwork Farm Retreat include The Hermit's Hut, The Eagles Nest & Cupola, the network of mapped trails, the Angel Pond, Ben's Circle Clearing, Druid Circle Stones and the multiplicity of Great Trees.
We look forward to offering The Aery Pavilion through airbnb in summer 2015. A screen-house surrounded by cedar decks, a stone to stone waterfall and a New England Zen Garden, The Aery is designed for small gatherings--weddings, family reunions, ceremonies to honor the earth, Kirtan and other musical performances, yoga & meditation practice, workshops--and as an "outdoor" bedroom, looking to sky, stars, gardens and forest in all seasons. Stay tuned for how to reserve this lovely, light-filled space.
