Stephanies cottage was perfect. It's situated up on the hill above state street, a very pleasant 10min walk to the Mission and twenty minute walk to restuarants/bars on State Street. Checking in was seamless and the place was pristine. It's got a great, rustic feel and tons of natural light. Gets a nice breeze for hot days, and had a heater if it got cold (but we didn't need it). Would definitely stay again.
Stephanie's place is clean, cozy and quiet. I love the redwood wall paneling and the nice crisp feel the place had. Stephanie made the process of checking in and out very easy. The bed was comfortable and lots of fresh towels and linens were available. All in all, I would definitely stay at her place again.

There were some really nice aspects of the cottage. For example, the neighborhood was beautiful. Fantastic sunsets and a nice back porch. Also, it's right next to a nice park, and the whole area is exceptionally quiet.
There were also a lot of things that weren't optimal. This was the condition when we arrived: The place was quite dusty. The front door key/lock didn't work. There was some long-expired food in the fridge. The smoke detector was dangling open, the shower drain was clogged, etc.
After three days or so, Stephanie fixed the lock, smoke detector, and the drain. We rented starting on New Years Eve, so perhaps her delay in fixing, and the less-than-desirable move-in condition was due to bad timing. Also, it was also exceptionally cold, so perhaps the weather impacted the front door lock. With these things in mind, we tried to be understanding, but it was frustrating to not be able to lock the door, etc.
The other thing I should mention is that the kitchen sink is miniature, so it's really hard to wash dishes.
On the bright-side, the parking situation that other reviewers talked about, was not a problem at all - we always found parking with little effort on APS street, which is only a short walk.
In summary, I would say that while our experience was a little rocky, and not one that we would repeat, the cottage had tons of potential. It is a great location - very peaceful, and with a little TLC, it could be a real find.
The cottage was very charming and clean and though we never met Stephanie, she was very responsive and pleasant to communicate with. The location is in a peaceful neighborhood and not far from the Mission and the Botanical gardens. One thing to note, the cottage is pretty rustic. I loved it but my parents found it a bit drafty (we were there in the winter).
The cottage was charming and clean, at night you can see a starry sky from the deck and the windows by the bed open. I really enjoyed my stay here and can not imagine finding a better spot. The Mission was a short walk away and a cool thing to see, to get to center of Santa Barbara, we used Uber, which worked wonderfully.
Very charming cottage if you like that sort of thing. It's located a bit from the central street (State) so I would definitely recommend bringing a car.
The listing could use a new profile pic as there are no pictures of the actual cottage from the outside. It was much more of a cottage than I had imagined.
Overall, a great place to spend a few days in Santa Barbara. Stephanie replies quickly and is an excellent host.
A+ spot. Perfect getaway. Clean space that immediately feels like home, with big windows and lots of sunlight. Neighborhood is peaceful and quiet with great views of all of the city. Couldn't have asked for more.
