Bob welcomed me as soon as I pulled into the driveway, I was in town on business, and the Inn was beautiful in a perfect location close to town, yet in a quiet neighborhood next to the river. Bob and Mavis were very accommodating and made me feel at home. The breakfast included was excellent I wish I could have stayed all week.
Fantastically enjoyable stay! Mavis and Bob were delightful hosts and I would definitely stay again if possible. The house is awesome, it actually was featured on Home Alone 5. The stay in the house definitely adds to any historic Winnipeg tour as you can feel as if you are in the (phone number hidden)s.
Thank you again!
Mavis and Bob were welcoming hosts. The location was excellent with easy access to Assiniboine Park and The Forks. Our accommodations were spotlessly clean. We appreciated the added touches like slippers and cushy towels for use at the swimming pool - which we didn't use because of unexpected rain but I know would be great after a usually hot and sunny Winnipeg day. Breakfast was excellent - one of the best ever!
The following review was written by my husband and I'd have to agree.
"Judging by the previous reviews left here and the years of acclaim left in her (beautiful, leather-bound) guestbook, my wife and I are simply two more admirers in a long line of charmed former guests of Mavis and Bob Heinrichs. If asked whether I recommend their bed and breakfast over the various other lodging options available, I would ask you whether you value simple and age old hospitality, kindness, and tranquility – or perhaps whether you’ve ever been the fortunate recipient of such gifts. If your answer is “yes” in the first case or “no” in the second, then please, by all means go here and breathe deeply, rest well, and eat richly, knowing that you are in the hands of exemplary hosts.
As an introvert, I sometimes scheme to avoid people when I travel, but I could not be more grateful to my wife for booking here over hiding out in some hotel’s enclave somewhere. I will always have fond memories of Mavis and Bob and their Inn that not only felt like home, but taught me a little more about how a home is actually made."
Beautiful home, very comfortable room 7 bed, wonderful hosts
A warm and personable stay. I would reccommend for the fact that the host were gracious and informative. The locale is central if you are anywhere near downtown. The breakfast to your discretion and leisure. The room spacious and had all the comforts of your home, but the ammenities of a hotel. Would definately make the 7 hour trip again, to stay and enjoy this lovely place and city.
Beautiful place. The room was super comfortable, the breakfast was delicious and the hosts gracious. I will definitely stay there again.
A beautiful place to stay in Winnipeg and you could not ask for a better location. The neighbourhood is stunning and the River Gate Inn is full of magic and class. Our hosts were gracious, kind, informative and served a lovely full breakfast. Our room was grand, warm and with gorgeous views. The bed was sumptuously comfortable and even came with a purified water cooler. My only and quite minor complaint would be the squeaky hardwood floors which I suppose is to be expected in home built nearly 100 years ago. I only wish we had more time to stay longer to enjoy the luxury and comfort.
