i am from usa i am comeing to help a man build woodfired pizza oven and look at city
Tom has a very cool place; and a very cool personality. We felt very welcome at his loft as well as his pizza place. The pizza was absolutely perfect! We hung around after closing and had a few beers with the band and Tom. Tom's a good guy. We'll be back. Ya, the bathroom wasn't the Ritz but neither was the price.
Tom is a very gracious host. He was warm and welcoming to both my husband and myself. The room is clean, the bathroom is shared and run down. The whole place is an experience. We met the most warm and welcoming group of people that we could imagine, and completely enjoyed our weekend with them. Tom shares all that he has with those around him. There are many bikes to use, and Tom drove us up the river with his canoe and supplies for a great day paddle. I would describe the experience as "indoor camping" The pizza is amazing, the beer is cold, and we felt that we were among friends from the moment we stepped in the door. We enjoyed great conversation with Tom, Heather, and people just stopping in to visit. We look forward to our next visit!
we spend a great night in sabula ! Tom is a very friendly host and we met amazing guys in his bar.
The beds are great and the bathroom is OK.
The landscape around Sabula is wonderful, great sunset and sunrise on the Mississippi river. Tom also lend us his bike so we can visit the town.
I recommend him!
If you want to experience something out of the ordinary, spectacular and wonderful - stop by and visit Tom in Sebula. He is a very very talented artist and excellent one-of-a-kind host. He converted an old candy story made out of brick into a living work of art with a brick pizza oven restaurant in the basement/first floor. Well worth the stop for the experience. Lodging/bed had clean sheets. No AC, but fan in bedroom. Bathroom was old . Highly recommend stopping by and meeting Tom if you have the chance.
Awesome, full of character in a town already full of character, loved the pizza, Tom is an engineering genius and has built a great house. The cat was an added bonus! Thanks!
My husband and I had a wonderful experience staying at Tom's place. It is not your ordinary hotel stay and is truly an experience. His place is unique, cozy, fun, and artistic, and Tom is a good host. Plus, the pizza and the stuffed jalepeno at Bombfire Pizza are really good, along with the local beer and wine.
Sabula is beautiful to drive through and is a 40 minute drive away from Galena, IL. There you can visit wineries, enjoy live music in neat spots, and take in some history. Near Sabula, there are many national parks to walk and run. In warmer weather, you can canoe, kayak and go swimming.
We will definitely return and would stay at Tom's place.
Funky cool place with a great vibe. Our host was homey and inviting. He was kind and seemed to do whatever he could to make us feel like we belong. The space is quaint and can accommodate three (bunk bed style).
I loved Tom's brick over pizza shop, his awesome pizza shoppe family, delicious pizza & local wine and beautiful art loft in the middle of one and only island in the edge of Iowa. Tom is AWESOME (more than friendly, interesting, intelligent, witty, funny)! I really wish I could go back and stop by on my way back from Chicago, but my friend was tired and turned out not very adventurous as much. :( But I will definitely go back, since I plan to go back to Chicago again soon. ^_^ His place is definitely neat, unique and clean. It is the place anyone should really stop by and check out... If you don't stay, at least try his pizza and the local wine, SERIOUSLY! I hope this helped any future visitors, and if you need any questions about my experience, you can always ask me... :)
Great experience, my boyfriend and I both enjoyed staying there. The place is beautiful, Tom very friendly, fun and love for life. A great person to be around. It is highly recommended! Unless you absolutely need central heating in which case this is not the place for you!
Tom was a super guest. He is fun, friendly and respectful, leaving our place very neat and ship shape. We would welcome him back any time!
