I'm from Melbourne, Australia. I love travelling and seeing the world. At last count I had visited 18 countries, and I plan on seeing many more before I die. I'm a specialist doctor, an anatomical pathologist.

This place is much nicer than the photos even display, beautiful outside view on each balcony makes you feel like you're in the rainforest when you're actually not so far from the City itself! Abbotsford is a great neighbourhood with some cool cafes and bars nearby, transport is easily accessible and the apartment itself is very comfortable and feels homely. Walking track just around the corner takes you along the river and the nearby Abbotsford Convent grounds is pretty special to check out too. We met Justin briefly and he was lovely, thank you so much for having us, we had a great month's stay at your place. Cheers Laura
The apartment was dirty when we arrived. The toilet edge was covered in poo stains and smelled urine (sorry!), there were cut nails and hair on the bathroom floor, the shower doors and tiles were well in soap scum and hair, the kitchen stove was noticeably greasy.
Both sets of sheets had multiple stains. We arrived at 1am at night, exhausted after the log trip, and had to find 24-hours Woolies to buy a clean set of sheets. Towels were clean though.
The listing included basic essentials, but the hand soap was missing.
Owner charges a $70 cleaning fee, which according to Airbnb "helps hosts account for any extra expense they have getting their listing nice and tidy before guests arrive or after guests depart".
I made photos of the issues and raised them with Justin. He was very rude and arrogant in getting back to us. He said "It's not a 5-star hotel and there is no maiden service"! He didn't seem to bother and simply ignored the fact of the cleaning fee existence.
We did not expect 5 star from an Airbnb listing, but we certainly did expect some basic tidiness...After texting back and forth he managed to do us a favour and said "I'll come to clean the toilet myself" as if this is something that is not good enough for him. Of course, he didn't get anything else cleaned. Perhaps, he thinks that his apartment is so gorgeous that it cost $70 to clean his super gorgeous toilet...
The thing that put me off the most was his disrespectful attitude. He didn't even try to make an impression of putting any effort to show that he cares. He didn't apologise, he didn't attempt to resolve the issues that we had. It really did upset us and made us feel bitter and disappointed for the rest of our stay in his place. I wouldn't recommend anyone dealing with this person, unfortunately, Airbnb does not have "-5" rating!
P.S. Don't be hooked on the beautiful balconies with the hammock and a set of chairs. The hammock made a perfect home for spiders and the chairs are covered in dust and spider webs. Neither balconies have been cleaned or used by guests in a very long time. If you plan to chill out in the hammock - well, you'll have to spend half a day cleaning it, "it's not a 5-star hotel" at all.
Cozy, well equipped apartment. Great location beside the river. Justin was an excellent host!
We had a great time in Justin's apartment. Justin had organised everything very well, his apartment was clean, there were some breakfast items in the fridge, the view from the balcony is great, and he has nice art hanging around the apartment.
The apartment is close to metro station Victoria Park which made travelling to other places in Melbourne easy. Although we did not meet Justin in person, he was very friendly and helpful when we had questions and responded fast. So a great recommendation to stay in Melbourne!
Excellent experience. Justin was a great host!
Such a tranquil and conmfortable place to stay. A home away from home with peaceful views and fully equipped.
This is a great apartment with a beautiful view and close to public transport. A 5 minute walk east on Johnston street gets you to the former Abbotsford Convent that has been converted into retail space and includes the wonderful Lentil As Anything buffet restaurant where you can donate whatever you want for a very good meal. This is certainly Melbourne's best restaurant value.
This was a fabulous place to stay in Melbourne. Comfortable, clean with everything you need. Easy access to public transport and not too far away from the heart of Melbourne. Justin as a host was very easy to communicate with and had everything arranged to perfection. Easy to follow instructions to find the apartment and a treat waiting in the fridge which was welcomed after a long journey. I will certainly contact Justin again next time I'll be in Melbourne.
I stayed at Justin's apartment for a week. The location was great. The apartment overlooks the Yarra Bend green-space, where I was able to do some great runs in the evenings. The highway makes for a bit of noise with the balcony sliders open, but can barely be heard when closed. It's a short walk to the subway that got me into the CBD pretty quick. I even walked from downtown back to the apartment one evening, which was a lovely walk thru safe neighborhoods.
The apartment has a nice layout with the kitchen and living room upstairs and bedroom, bathroom, and laundry room downstairs. There is an apartment above, and you can surely hear the tenants walking around, but wasn't too bad. The apartment is clean and well-stocked with all you should need. The furniture is a bit sparse, but all the basics are there. Be aware that the bed is a futon low to the floor and a bit hard if you might prefer a softer, normal bed.
Justin provided some basic food to get me started. This made my first and other mornings easy. A very nice perk.
Justin was very helpful and resolved the couple issues I had when I first arrived. He genuinely tried to improve my stay. Overall, this a good value for the money.
Justin was a pleasure and the ideal guest. He was polite, a great communicator, extremely clean, respectful, and followed all house rules. I would highly recommend him as a guest
