Great location, for beach and shopping and bus stop, room had everything we needed, thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thanks
The Ala Moana Hotel Condominiums was a good location:
-within walking distance (approx. .4 mi.) to the Ala Moana Park Beach (great for swimming, less commercial than Waikiki)
-right next to the Ala Moana Shopping Center (lots of restaurants)
-about a mile from Waikiki
-a bus ride to Diamond Head Park and other sites
There are extra fees involved---charged by the hotel at check in:
-$40 one-time fee
-$20/day parking (if you need a car) There is a $12 shuttle to airport available)
(in addition to the airbnb fee---in our case $16/day---and cleaning fee---in our case $22/day)
Still the price is about 20-25% below market value although there is NO maid service. After 5 days, a hotel room can get a bit grungy with no maid service! Thankfully there is a laundry facility in the hotel ($6-7 per load). And the hotel is very helpful with taking garbage, answering questions, explaining bus routes, etc. The condo was very clean upon our arrival and there are a lot of cleaning supplies available under the sink!
The description that this is a PENTHOUSE SUITE is a bit misleading in that this is a not particularly large hotel room on the 34th floor. There is NO extra room although the 'kitchen' (more like a cupboard) is well stocked. The view of the ocean (and tall buildings!) is nice from the lanai porch off the bedroom (furnished with table and 2 chairs).
Ray was very attentive to any questions/concerns we had. He responded immediately to any of my texts. We communicated by text mostly although Ray did try calling me by phone. He is an absent landlord but most questions can be answered by the hotel.
The accommodations were as described and expected. Check in and out was very easy and there were no problems. The room was clean and had an HDTV, iron/ironing board, blender, microwave, fridge, utensils, plates and paper products. There is a WalMart and a large mall within walking distance of the hotel if there are items that need to be purchased. Access to the beach is very easy. The Ala Moana Park Beach is the nearest beach, and it is about an 8 minute walk. The beach is clean and was never crowded. Sunsets at the beach are amazing. We had a great time. Thanks!
Sehr gut und Zimmer sehr sauber! Habe mich richtig wohl gefühlt.
View über Meer ist ja großartig. 5 Stars
A nice standard hotel room. The title of the posting is misleading, however, as it is not a suite. It is a small room with two double beds. It is on a high floor with a beautiful view in a nice hotel with great facilities (gym, pool, spa, restaurants, disco, etc.). It's also in a great location, close to shopping and restaurants.
Clean, comfortable, strategically located with stellar view. Ray was helpful, kind and accessible. Top marks.
This was a clean, small hotel room, the room was on a high floor & offered a great view but did not reflect what I thought would be a penthouse suite. There was barely enough room for our suitcases to even fit. The hotel pool is a standard large pool but does not have a shallow end so isn't really kid friendly as it also has stone around it (loose gravel), The night club in the hotel is a little scary (rough)..I would not stay here again for a family trip but would be fine for one person for business. Loved that it was close to Ala Moana shopping. The host Ray was pleasent to deal with and was great that he allows an early check in. Overall a little dissappointed as I thought that a Penthouse would be a larger room with a bigger kitchenette area....it is basically just a standard hotel room that is called a Penthouse because it is on a high floor.
Ray's place is in a great location, although a bit further from the middle of the action in Waikiki but close to Ala Moana park beach which was great for swimming and not as busy as Waikiki beaches. We had a pleasant stay and would definitely recommend staying here if you are visiting Honolulu.
The only issue during our stay was that the coffee maker was broken so we had to go to the mall and buy one and Ray promised to compensate us.
I had a very pleasant stay at the Penthouse Suite in the Ala MoanaHotel.
The view from the room was great. I enjoyed the "kitchen". Ray communicated with me very well and I would definitely stay here again.
The hotel has numerous amenities that guests are able to enjoy. There is a great gym, pool and steam room/sauna. The Plantation Cafe has a really wonderful breakfast buffet.
All I can say is that it was a pleasure to exchange correspondence with Ray.
