I'm a relaxed, friendly doctor who loves exploring the world with his girlfriend Nicky :-)
I was born and raised in South Africa and emmigrated to New Zealand after passing through there on my travels. I loved the peace and serenity, the clean air and beautiful landscape and the friendly and unassuming people so much that I decided to stay. I have since fallen in love with a Kiwi girl (Nicky) and we have spent the past 5 years trying to squeeze as many travel adventures into our budget as possible.
We both have a wonderful love of travel and a healthy respect for other cultures, customs and languages. When we travel we try to immerse ourselves in the local culture, cuisine (we LOVE trying new foods!) and language as much as possible rather than just rushing from one tourist attraction to another.
I have worked in large trauma centres in South Africa, in small mission hospitals in Zululand, in community hospitals in the Australian outback as well as in small hospitals in coastal towns in Australia and New Zealand. Part of my job that I really love is interacting with people from all sorts of backgrounds and making a difference in their communities.
As we are both health professionals we have a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene and understand the risks of living in filthy surrounds. We both despise littering and are environmentally conscious to the amount of garbage we produce and the water and electricity we use.
All-in-all I think one could describe us as ideal guests and we would look after your place as if it were our own
